'Pride' in the Bible

Human pride will be humbled,and the loftiness of men will be brought low;the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.

On that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of Israel’s survivors.

All the people—Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria—will know it.They will say with pride and arrogance:

I will bring disaster on the world,and their own iniquity, on the wicked.I will put an end to the pride of the arrogantand humiliate the insolence of tyrants.

And Babylon, the jewel of the kingdoms,the glory of the pride of the Chaldeans,will be like Sodom and Gomorrahwhen God overthrew them.

We have heard of Moab’s pride—how very proud he is—his haughtiness, his pride, his arrogance,and his empty boasting.

He will spread out his arms in the middle of it,as a swimmer spreads out his arms to swim.His pride will be brought low,along with the trickery of his hands.

Who is it you have mocked and blasphemed?Who have you raised your voice againstand lifted your eyes in pride?Against the Holy One of Israel!

Instead of your being deserted and hated,with no one passing through,I will make you an object of eternal pride,a joy from age to age.
