'Refuge' in the Bible
There will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain.
“How then will one answer the messengers of the nation?That the Lord has founded Zion,And the afflicted of His people will seek refuge in it.”
For you have forgotten the God of your salvationAnd have not remembered the rock of your refuge.Therefore you plant delightful plantsAnd set them with vine slips of a strange god.
For You have been a defense for the helpless,A defense for the needy in his distress,A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat;For the breath of the ruthlessIs like a rain storm against a wall.
Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,And with Sheol we have made a pact.The overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passes by,For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.”
“I will make justice the measuring lineAnd righteousness the level;Then hail will sweep away the refuge of liesAnd the waters will overflow the secret place.
Who proceed down to EgyptWithout consulting Me,To take refuge in the safety of PharaohAnd to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!
Each will be like a refuge from the windAnd a shelter from the storm,Like streams of water in a dry country,Like the shade of a huge rock in a parched land.
He will dwell on the heights,His refuge will be the impregnable rock;His bread will be given him,His water will be sure.
“When you cry out, let your collection of idols deliver you.But the wind will carry all of them up,And a breath will take them away.But he who takes refuge in Me will inherit the landAnd will possess My holy mountain.”
