And I tell you that you are Peter [a rock], and upon this rock will I build my assembly, and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it.

and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish nor shall any one pluck them out of my hand. My Father who gave [them] to me is greater than all, and no one can pluck them out of my Father's hand.

At my first defense no one stood by me, but all forsook me; may it not be set to their account; but the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that the word should be fully declared by me, and all the nations should hear, and I was delivered from the mouth of the lion. The Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and bring me safe to his heavenly kingdom; to whom be the glory forever and ever; amen.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in his great mercy has begotten us to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, kept in heaven for you who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

And fear not those who kill the body and are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for an assarion [1.5 mills]? and one of them cannot fall to the ground without your Father. Even the hairs of your head are all numbered.read more.
Fear not, therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows.

But I will show you whom to fear; Fear him, who after killing has power to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, Fear him. What shall we say then to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who spared not his Son, but gave him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against God's elect? It is God that justifies;read more.
who is he that condemns? Is it Christ who died, and still more, who has also been raised, and who is on the right hand of God, and who makes intercession for us? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall affliction or distress, persecution or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day; we are accounted as sheep for slaughter. But in all these things we more than conquer, through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creation, shall be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For time would fail me to relate of Gideon and Barak, and Sampson and Jepthah, and David and Samuel and the prophets, who by faith subdued kingdoms, performed righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, extinguished the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put to flight encampments of foreigners;read more.

Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist, firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished by your brothers in the world. And may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when you have suffered a little while, himself make you perfect, confirm, strengthen, establish you.

Fear not what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that you may be tried, and you shall have affliction ten days. Be faithful till death, and I will give you the crown of life.

And one of the elders answered and said to me, Who are those clothed with white robes, and whence did they come? And I said to him, My Lord, you know. And he said to me, These are those who come out from great affliction, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple, and he that sits on the throne will dwell among them.read more.
