'Short' in the Bible

and if those days had not been cut short, no flesh had been saved; but on account of the elect those days shall be cut short.

and if the Lord had not cut short those days, no flesh should have been saved; but on account of the elect whom he has chosen, he has cut short those days.

And after a short time another seeing him said, And thou art of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.

But a certain man, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, held in honour of all the people, rose up in the council, and commanded to put the men out for a short while,

for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

for he is bringing the matter to an end, and cutting it short in righteousness; because a cutting short of the matter will the Lord accomplish upon the earth.

so that ye come short in no gift, awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

But meat does not commend us to God; neither if we should not eat do we come short; nor if we should eat have we an advantage.

According as it is written, He who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little was nothing short.

Therefore be full of delight, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the earth and to the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great rage, knowing he has a short time.
