Proverbs 25

² It is the glory of God to keep a thing secret: but the glory of kings is to have it searched out.

² It is the glory of God to ^(B)conceal a matter,But the glory of ^(C)kings is to search out a matter.

⁴ Take away the waste from silver, and a vessel will come out for the silver-worker.

⁶ Do not take glory for yourself before the king, and do not put yourself in the place of the great:

⁶ Don’t brag about yourself before the king,and don’t stand in the place of the great;

⁶ Don't magnify yourself in the presence of a king, and don't pretend to be in the company of famous men,

⁸ Do not be quick to go to law about what you have seen, for what will you do in the end, when your neighbour has put you to shame?

⁸ Do not go out ^(I)hastily to ^(a)argue your case;^(b)Otherwise, what will you do in ^(c)the end,When your neighbor humiliates you?

⁸ Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.

⁸ Don’t take a matter to court hastily.^(I)Otherwise, what will you do afterwardif your opponent^(c) humiliates you?

⁸ don't be in a hurry to argue in court. Otherwise, what will you do later on when your neighbor humiliates you?

¹⁰ Or your hearer may say evil of you, and your shame will not be turned away.

¹⁰ Or he who hears it will reproach you,And the evil report about you will not ^(e)pass away.

¹⁰ Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.

¹⁴ As clouds and wind without rain, so is one who takes credit for an offering he has not given.

¹⁴ Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

¹⁴ Like clouds and winds without rain is the man who brags about gifts he never gave.

¹⁶ If you have honey, take only as much as is enough for you; for fear that, being full of it, you may not be able to keep it down.

¹⁶ Have you ^(U)found honey? Eat only ^(k)what you need,That you not have it in excess and vomit it.

¹⁶ Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.

²⁰ Like one who takes off clothing in cold weather and like acid on a wound, is he who makes melody to a sad heart.

²⁰ Like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar on ⁽ⁿ⁾soda,Is he who sings songs to ^(o)a troubled heart.

²⁰ As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

²⁴ It is better to be living in an angle of the house-top, than with a bitter-tongued woman in a wide house.

²⁸ He whose spirit is uncontrolled is like an unwalled town which has been broken into.

²⁸ Like a ^(AG)city that is broken into and without wallsIs a man ^(AH)who has no control over his spirit.

²⁸ He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

²⁸ A man who does not control his temper^(AD)is like a city whose wall is broken down.^(AE) >
