and there the centurion having found a ship of Alexandria sailing to Italy, he made us go on board her.

For a number of days we sailed on slowly and with difficulty arrived off Cnidus. Then, because the wind did not permit us to go on, we sailed under the lee of Crete off Cape Salmone,

Then as they were afraid we might go on the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern and waited anxiously for daylight.
