So he asked them at what time he began to get better. They said, “Yesterday during the seventh hour the fever left him.”

For an angel used to descend from time to time into the bath, and disturb the water; whereupon the first person who stepped in after the water was disturbed was restored to health, no matter what disease he had been afflicted with].

Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

And the Father who sent Me has Himself testified about Me. You have never heard His voice nor seen His form [His majesty and greatness—what He is like].

But if you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe my words?"

The people, therefore, seeing what signs he wrought, began to say - This, is, of a truth, the prophet who was to come into the world.

Then Jesus said to them, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven.

And this is what God, who sent me, wants: That I should not lose any of those persons whom He has given me, but should raise them up [from the dead] on the last day [i.e., the judgment day].

They kept asking, "Is not this man Joseph's son? Is he not Jesus, whose father and mother we know? What does he mean by now saying, 'I have come down out of Heaven'?"

When Jesus became conscious that his disciples were protesting about what he said, he said to them, Does this give you trouble?

so his brothers said to him, "Leave this and go across into Judaea, to let your disciples witness what you can do;

That was what he told them, and he stayed on in Galilee.

for what do ye attempt to kill me? the people answered, saying, you are mad: who attempts to kill you?

But we know where this Man is from; whenever the Christ comes, no one will know where He is from.”

But many from the crowd believed in Him. And they kept saying, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs and exhibit more proofs than this Man?”

(the Pharisees being inform'd what the people rumour'd concerning him, they and the chief priests sent their officers to seize him.)

So the Jews said among themselves, To what place is he going where we will not see him? will he go to the Jews living among the Greeks and become the teacher of the Greeks?

Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, What, doth the Christ come out of Galilee?

So then the officers came unto the High-priests and Pharisees, and, they, said unto them - For what cause, have ye not brought him?

"What! Have you been led astray too?" the Pharisees replied.

What therefore sayest t`ou? This they spoke tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooping down, wrote with his finger on the ground.

And when his words came to their ears, they went out one by one, starting with the oldest even to the last, because they were conscious of what was in their hearts: and Jesus was there by himself with the woman before him.

Jesus therefore repeated what he had said, "I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your incredulity, so that whither I go, ye cannot come."

then said the Jews, what, will he kill himself? that he says, "whither I go, you cannot come."

They said, therefore, to him, 'Thou -- who art thou?' and Jesus said to them, 'Even what I did speak of to you at the beginning;

I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but he that has sent me is true, and I, what I have heard from him, these things I say to the world.

They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone. What do You mean by saying, ‘You will be set free’?”

"I know that you are Abraham's descendants. Yet you are trying to kill me because you've not received what I've told you.

“Our father is Abraham!” they replied.

“If you were Abraham’s children,” Jesus told them, “you would do what Abraham did.

But now you have a desire to put me to death, a man who has said to you what is true, as I had it from God: Abraham did not do that.

You’re doing what your father does.”

“We weren’t born of sexual immorality,” they said. “We have one Father—God.”

The Jews said to him, "Now we are sure you are mad. Abraham is dead, and so are all the prophets; and you declare, 'If anyone holds to what I say, he will never taste death'!

Are you a greater man than our forefather Abraham? Yet he is dead and the prophets are dead. What do you claim to be?"

Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but he was born blind so that the acts of God may be revealed through what happens to him.

But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
