Though he had plenteousness of everything, yet was he poor, and therefore he is but a wretch on every side.
For thou art the poor man's help, and strength for the needful in his necessity. Thou art a defense against evil weather and a shadow against the heat, when the blast of the raging men is like a storm that casteth down a wall.
{Res} Consider, O LORD, how I am troubled: my womb is disquieted, my heart turneth about in me, and I am full of heaviness. The sword hurteth me without, and within I am like unto death.
But woe be to them that be with child, and to them that give suck in those days, for there shall be great trouble in the land: and wrath over all this people. And they shall fall on the edge of the sword. And they shall be led captive into all nations. And Jerusalem shall be trodden underfoot of the gentiles, until the time of the gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs, in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars: and in the earth the people shall be in such perplexity, that they shall not tell which way to turn themselves. The sea and the waters shall roar,
These words have I spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. For in the world shall ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
and strengthened the disciples souls: exhorting them to continue in the faith, affirming that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
Neither do we so, only: but also we rejoice in tribulation: For we know that tribulation bringeth patience,
Who shall separate us from the love of God? Shall tribulation? Or anguish? Or persecution, other hunger? Other nakedness? Other peril? Other sword?
Rejoice in hope. Be patient in tribulation, continue in prayer.
I suppose that it is good for the present necessity. For it is good for a man so to be.
I am very bold over you, and rejoice greatly in you. I am filled with comfort and am joyous in all our tribulations.
For verily when I was with you, I told you before that we should suffer tribulation even as it came to pass, and as ye know.
Therefore, brethren, had we consolation in you, in all our adversity, and necessity through your faith.
so that we ourselves rejoice of you in the congregations of God, over your patience and faith in all your persecutions, and tribulations that ye suffer:
