Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven; and come, follow Me."
And Jesus, looking on him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing is wanting to you: go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven, and come, follow Me."

A religion, pure and undefiled with our God and Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their tribulation, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Honor widows who are widows indeed. But, if any widow has children or grand-children, let them learn first to show regard to their own family, and to make returns to their parents; for this is acceptable before God.
Let each one do as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver.

But whosoever possesses the goods of the world, and beholds his brother having need, and shuts up his compassion from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent? If, therefore, ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in Heaven give good things to those asking Him?
But a certain Samaritan, going on his way, came down to him; and, seeing him, he was moved with compassion; and, coming to him, he bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and, setting him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And, on the morrow, taking out two denaries, he gave them to the host, and said, 'Take care of him; and whatsoever you expend additional, I, when I return, will repay you.'
Heal the sick; raise the dead; cleanse the lepers; cast oat demons; freely ye received, freely give.
And now complete the doing also; that, as there was a readiness to will, so also there may be the completion out of what ye have; for, if the readiness is present, it is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he has not.
"Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen by them, otherwise at least ye have no reward with your Father Who is in Heaven. When, therefore, you are doing alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. for all these, out of their superabundance, cast into the gifts; but she, out of her poverty, cast in all the living that she had."
