We love, because he first loved us. If any one says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And we have this commandment from him, that he who loves God should also love his brother.

Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and every one who loves the Father loves also the Son who is born to him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous;

And this is love, that we should walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.
