Charge those who are rich in this age, that they be not proud, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us all things richly for our enjoyment,

Come, now, you rich men, weep and lament for your miseries that are coming upon you. You have heaped up treasures in the last days.
And the fruits that your soul desired have departed from you; and all things that are dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you shall find them no more at all.
Come, now, you that say, Let us go to-day, or to-morrow, into this city, and remain there a year, and trade, and make gain; and yet you know not what will take place to-morrow. For what is your life? Is it not, indeed, a vapor, that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away? Instead of that, you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.read more.
But now you glory in your boastings: all such glorying is evil.

When the young man heard that saying, he went away grieved; for he had great possessions. Jesus said to his disciples: Verily I say to you, A rich man will with difficulty enter into the kingdom of heaven.
But becoming sad at that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. And Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples: With what difficulty will those who have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
And when he heard this, he was very sad, for he was very rich. When Jesus saw that he was very sad, he said: How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests, and said: What are you willing to give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they weighed to him thirty pieces of silver.
And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him up to them. And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him up.
And he went away, and conferred with the chief priests and the captains how he might deliver him up to them. And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.
For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, but lose his own life? Or, what will a man give as the ransom of his life?
For what will it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and destroy himself, or be lost?
because you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver or gold, from your vain mode of life received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without spot and blemish,
But Peter said: Silver and gold I have none: but what I have, this I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, arise and walk.
saying: Give me, also, this authority, that who ever I shall lay my hands on, may receive the Holy Spirit. But Peter said to him: Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God might be purchased with money.
I counsel you to buy of me gold that has been tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness may not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye-salve, that you may see.
