Yet the times of this ignorance God overlooked; but now, he commands all men everywhere to repent:

Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.read more.
The lamp of the body is the eye: if, therefore, your eye be sound, your whole body will be light: But if your eye be diseased, your whole body will be dark. And the disciples asked him, saying: What does this parable mean? He replied: To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that when they see, they may not see, and when they hear, they may not understand.

as it is written: God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes with which they can not see, and ears with which they can not hear.

This I say, therefore, and appeal to you solemnly in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the other Gentiles walk, in the error of their minds, darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves up to licentiousness, that they may work all manner of uncleanness with greediness.

And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment, how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation? which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard him;read more.

And if any one hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not; for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has that which judges him: the word which I have spoken, that shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself: but the Father who sent me, he gave me commandment what I should say, and what I should speak.read more.
And I know that his commandment is life eternal. What things I speak therefore, as the Father has said to me, so I speak.

For it is impossible to renew again to repentance those who have once been enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away; since they again crucify in themselves the Son of God, and put him to an open shame.

These men are fountains without water, clouds driven by a tempest, for whom the gloom of darkness is reserved forever. For by speaking boastful words of folly, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, and through lasciviousness, those who had really escaped from those who live in error. While they promise them freedom, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for by whatever any man is overcome, he is also enslaved.read more.

But the magician Elymas (for this is his name, when translated) withstood them, desiring to turn away the proconsul from the faith.

But the unbelieving Jews, taking with them some evil men, who were loungers about the markets, and collecting a mob, set the city in an uproar; and having assaulted the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people. But not finding them, they dragged Jason and certain brethren before the rulers of the city, crying out: These men, who have thrown the world into confusion, have come hither also; whom Jason has received into his house: and they all act in opposition to the decrees of Caesar, saying, That there is another king, Jesus.read more.
And the multitude, and the rulers of the city, were troubled when they heard these things. And they took security of Jason, and of the others, and let them go.

And at that time there was a great persecution against the church that was in Jerusalem; and they were all dispersed throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. But devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. But Saul attempted to destroy the church; entering every house, and dragging men and women, he delivered them up to prison.

for this reason we are comforted concerning you, brethren, in all our distress and affliction, by your faith:

And the word of the Lord was published throughout the whole of that region. But the Jews in cited the devout and influential women, and the first men of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their borders.

so that we ourselves glory in you, among the churches of God, for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure;
