Then they also will answer, and say: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee? Then will he answer them, saying: Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me. And these shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
And he spoke this parable to some, who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and who despised others.
For if we sin willfully, after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no longer a sacrifice for sins; but a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and a fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: The dog has turned again to his own vomit; and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, so that he will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
