And he did not many miracles there, for their unbelief's sake.

And he marveled at their unbelief. And he went about by the towns that lay on every side, teaching.

The lips of the righteous feed a whole multitude; but fools shall die in their own folly.

Therefore cometh my folk also in captivity, because they have no understanding. Their glory is famished with hunger, and their pride is marred for thirst.

For his watchmen are all blind, they have altogether no understanding. They are all dumb dogs, no being able to bark; they are sleepery, sluggish, and lie snorting. They are shameless dogs, that be never satisfied. The shepherds also in like manner have no understanding, but every man turneth his own way, everyone after his own covetousness, with all his power.

and vain disputations of men with corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, which think that lucre is godliness. From such, separate thyself.

remember, I say, that ye were at that time without Christ, and were reputed aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and were strangers from the testaments of promise, and had no hope, and were without God in this world.

What shall it profit a man, though he should win all the whole world, if he lose his own soul? Or else, what shall a man give to redeem his soul again withal?

For what shall it advantage a man, to win the whole world, if he lose himself: or run in damage of himself?

But God said unto him, 'Thou fool, this night will they fetch away thy soul again from thee. Then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?' So is it with him that gathered riches, and is not rich in God."

because thou sayest thou art rich and increased with goods, and hast need of nothing, and knowest not how thou art wretched and miserable, poor, blind, and naked.

Remember, therefore, from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works. Or else I will come unto thee shortly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

As for me, I am poor, and in misery, but the LORD careth for me. Thou art my helper and redeemer; make no long tarrying, O my God.

Lo, the poor crieth, and the LORD heareth him, yea, and saveth him out of all his troubles.

All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him? Yea, the poor, and him that is in misery, from him that spoileth him?"

Blessed are they which hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be filled.

The LORD preserveth the simple; I was brought down in misery and he helped me.

The sacrifice of God is a troubled spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, shalt thou not despise.

As for these things, my hand hath made them all, and they are all created, sayeth the LORD. Which of them shall I then regard? Even him that is of a lowly troubled spirit, and standeth in awe of my works.

The LORD is nigh unto them that are contrite in heart, and will save such as be of a humble spirit.

For thus sayeth the high and excellent, even he that dwelleth in everlastingness, whose name is the holy one: I dwell high above and in the sanctuary, and with him also, that is of a contrite and humble spirit: that I may heal a troubled mind, and a contrite heart.

when he turneth him unto the prayer of the poor destitute, and despiseth not their desire.

but giveth more grace?

Likewise, ye younger submit yourselves unto the elder. Submit yourselves every man, one to another. Knit yourselves together in lowliness of mind. For God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble. Submit yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you, when the time is come.

As for the scornful, he shall laugh them to scorn, but he shall give grace unto the lowly.

The spirit of the LORD God is with me, for the LORD hath anointed me, and sent me to preach good tidings unto the poor: that I might bind up the wounded hearts, that I might preach deliverance to the captive, and open the prison to them that are bound;

He hath filled the hungry with good things: And sendeth away the rich empty.

A small thing that the righteous hath, is better than the great riches of the ungodly.

Better is a little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure; for they are not without sorrow. Better is a mess of pottage with love; than a fat ox with evil will.

Better it is to have a little thing with righteousness, than great rents wrongfully gotten.

Better is the poor that liveth godly, than the blasphemer that is but a fool.

A poor man leading a godly life, is better than the rich that goeth in froward ways.

To have wisdom in possession is better than gold; and to get understanding is more worth than silver.

Better it is to be of humble mind with the lowly, than to divide the spoils with the proud.

Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a full house and many fat cattle with strife.

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted,

For ye suffered also with my bonds, and took in worth the spoiling of your goods, and that with gladness, knowing in yourselves how that ye had in heaven a better, and an enduring substance.

were stoned, were hewn asunder, were tempted, were slain with swords, walked up and down in sheep skins, in goat skins, in need, tribulation, and vexation, which the world was not worthy of: They wandered in wilderness, in mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. to enjoy an inheritance immortal, and undefiled, and that perisheth not; reserved in heaven for you

as sorrowing and yet always merry, as poor and yet make many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.

Hearken, my dear beloved brethren, hath not God chosen the poor of this world, which are rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom, which he promised to them that love him?

I know thy works and tribulation and poverty, but thou art rich. And I know the blasphemy of them which call themselves Jews and are not, but are the congregation of Satan.
