And least I should be too much lifted up with the abundance of the revelations, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, least I should be too much elevated. For this I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is manifested in thy weakness." And going away again, the second time He prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass from me, unless I drink it, thy will be done. And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. And He left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, to the same effect.
