as your fathers, so do ye.

Take heed, brethren, left there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God: But exhort one another daily, while it is called to day, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin: (For we are made partakers of Christ, ifread more.
we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end) While it is said; To-day, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For who, when they had heard, provoked God? Were they not all that came out of Egypt by Moses? And with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with them who had sinned? Whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he, that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see, they could not enter in, because of unbelief.

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,

But all have not obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

For unto us hath the gospel been preached as well as unto them; but the word heard did not profit them, not being mixt with faith in those that heard it.

He came to his own, and his own received him not.

he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, Whence hath HE this wisdom and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James and Joses and Simon and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath HE all these things?read more.
And they were offended at him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he wrought not many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.

And he went out from thence and came into his own country, and his disciples follow him. And on the sabbath he taught in the synagogue, and many hearing were astonished, saying, Whence hath this man these things? And what wisdom is this that is given him, that such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter? The son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses, and of Judas and Simon! And he could do no miracle there, save that he laid his hands on a few sick and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about thro' the villages teaching.

Whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy own country. And he said, Verily I say to you, No prophet is acceptable in his own country. I tell you of a truth, Many widows were in Israel, in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, while a great famine was thro' all the land. Yet to none of these was Elijah sent, but to Sarepta, a city of Sidon, to a widow. And many lepers were in Israel, in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet none of them was healed, but Naaman the Syrian. And all in the synagogue hearing these things, were filled with fury, And rising up, thrust him out of the city, and brought him to the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, to cast him down headlong. But he passing thro' the midst of them, went away.

(For neither did his brethren believe on him.) Jesus saith to them, My time is not yet come: your time is always ready.

Then was brought to him a demoniac, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And the multitude were amazed and said, Is not this the Son of David? But the Pharisees hearing it said, This fellow casteth not out devils but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

But the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb: and when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake, and the people wondered. But some of them said, He casteth out devils by Beelzebub the prince of the devils: And others tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

and led him into their council, Saying, Art thou the Christ? Tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, ye will not believe.

And the Father who hath sent me, he hath testified of me: ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. And ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom he hath sent, ye believe not.

But I told you, that tho' ye have seen me, ye believe not.

Then came the Jews round about him, and said to him, How long dost thou keep us in suspense? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I have told you; yet ye do not believe: the works that I do in my Father's name, they testify of me. But, as I have told you, ye do not believe, because ye are not of my sheep.

Therefore to you who believe, he is precious: but to them who believe not, The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.

Verily, verily I say to thee, we speak what we know, and testify what we have seen; yet ye receive not our testimony. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how would ye believe, if I told you heavenly things?

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

But because I speak the truth, ye believe me not.

Jesus said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.

Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. And he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign, and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.

And the multitudes being gathered thick together, he said, This is an evil generation: it seeketh a sign; but no sign shall be given it, save the sign of Jonah.

A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh a sign; but there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

And sighing deeply in his spirit, he said, Why doth this generation seek a sign? Verily I say to you, There shall no sign be given to this generation.

And others tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him. And ye seeing it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

But the Jews stirred up the devout, honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil-affected against the brethren.

But when the Jews of Thessalonica knew that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea also, they came thither likewise, and stirred up the multitude.

But when some were hardened, and would not believe, but spake reproachfully of the way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, discoursing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

And some believed the things that were spoken, and some believed not.

To the clean all things are clean; but to the defiled and unbelieving nothing is clean; but both their understanding and conscience are defiled.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven, against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who detain the truth in unrighteousness.

That they all may be condemned, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for all men have not faith.

having put me into the ministry, Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecuter, and a reviler; but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

He said, He is a prophet. But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, till they had called the parents of him who had received his sight.

Then the Jews again took up stones to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, We stone thee not for a good work, but for blasphemy, and because thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

But tho' he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him;

If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, tho' ye believe not me, believe the works; that ye may know and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

But how shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him, of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? But how shall they preach, unless they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them who bring the good tidings of peace, who bring the glad tidings of good things!

So that tongues are for a sign, not to believers, but to unbelievers; whereas prophecy is not for unbelievers, but for believers. Yet if the whole church be met together, and all speak with unknown tongues, and there come in ignorant persons or unbelievers, will they not say, that ye are mad? Whereas if all prophesy, and there come in an unbeliever, or an ignorant person, he is convicted by all, he is judged by all:

In like manner, ye wives, be subject to your own husbands, that if any obey not the word, they also may, without the word, be won by the conversation of the wives,
