God forbid: let God be true, and every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

not walking in craftiness, nor deceitfully corrupting the word of God, but by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such worshipers. God is a spirit, and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth.

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, who is the head, even Christ:

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not passionate, not given to wine, no striker, not desirous of filthy gain:
in doctrine, uncorruptness, seriousness, Sound speech that cannot be reproved; that he who is on the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us.
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
And they sent to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth; neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
And they coming say to him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man; for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to give tribute to Cesar, or not?
And for this cause do I exercise myself to have always a conscience void of offence toward God and toward man.
For this is our rejoicing, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with carnal wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more especially toward you.
For we are not as many, who adulterate the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, in the sight of God, speak we in Christ.
But because I speak the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convicteth me of sin? And if I speak the truth, why do ye not believe me?
Jesus answered, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
Am I become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
