'Heart' in the Bible

Be angry and do not sin;on your bed, reflect in your heart and be still.Selah

You have put more joy in my heartthan they have when their grain and new wine abound.

My shield is with God,who saves the upright in heart.

For look, the wicked string the bow;they put the arrow on the bowstringto shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.

The one who lives honestly, practices righteousness,and acknowledges the truth in his heart—

Therefore my heart is gladand my spirit rejoices;my body also rests securely.

You have tested my heart;You have examined me at night.You have tried me and found nothing evil;I have determined that my mouth will not sin.

Foreigners lose heartand come trembling from their fortifications.

The precepts of the Lord are right,making the heart glad;the command of the Lord is radiant,making the eyes light up.

May the words of my mouthand the meditation of my heartbe acceptable to You,Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.

May He give you what your heart desiresand fulfill your whole purpose.

I am poured out like water,and all my bones are disjointed;my heart is like wax,melting within me.

The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,who has not set his mind on what is false,and who has not sworn deceitfully.

The distresses of my heart increase;bring me out of my sufferings.

wouldn’t God have found this out,since He knows the secrets of the heart?

God, create a clean heart for meand renew a steadfast spirit within me.

The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit.God, You will not despise a broken and humbled heart.

My heart shudders within me;terrors of death sweep over me.

Did I purify my heartand wash my hands in innocence for nothing?

My flesh and my heart may fail,but God is the strength of my heart,my portion forever.

At night I remember my music;I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders.

Then they would not be like their fathers,a stubborn and rebellious generation,a generation whose heart was not loyaland whose spirit was not faithful to God.

He shepherded them with a pure heartand guided them with his skillful hands.

My heart is afflicted, withered like grass;I even forget to eat my food.

wine that makes man’s heart glad—making his face shine with oil—and bread that sustains man’s heart.

For I am afflicted and needy;my heart is wounded within me.

Hallelujah!I will praise the Lord with all my heartin the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.

He will not fear bad news;his heart is confident, trusting in the Lord.

His heart is assured; he will not fear.In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.

Happy are those who keep His decreesand seek Him with all their heart.

I will praise You with a sincere heartwhen I learn Your righteous judgments.

I have sought You with all my heart;don’t let me wander from Your commands.

I have treasured Your word in my heartso that I may not sin against You.

Help me understand Your instruction,and I will obey itand follow it with all my heart.

Turn my heart to Your decreesand not to material gain.

I have sought Your favor with all my heart;be gracious to me according to Your promise.

The arrogant have smeared me with lies,but I obey Your precepts with all my heart.

May my heart be blameless regarding Your statutesso that I will not be put to shame.

I have Your decrees as a heritage forever;indeed, they are the joy of my heart.
