'Place' in the Bible
Your adversaries have roared in the midst of Your meeting place; They have set up their own standards for signs.
“You called in trouble and I rescued you;I answered you in the hiding place of thunder;I proved you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
When the wind has passed over it, it is no more,And its place acknowledges it no longer.
The mountains rose; the valleys sank downTo the place which You established for them.
He made the moon for the seasons; The sun knows the place of its setting.
From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and set me in a large place.
You are my hiding place and my shield;I wait for Your word.
Until I find a place for the Lord,A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
“She will place on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty.”
The righteous is delivered from trouble,But the wicked takes his place.
The eyes of the Lord are in every place,Watching the evil and the good.
The wicked is a ransom for the righteous,And the treacherous is in the place of the upright.
Do not claim honor in the presence of the king,And do not stand in the place of great men;
Also, the sun rises and the sun sets; And hastening to its place it rises there again.
All the rivers flow into the sea,Yet the sea is not full.To the place where the rivers flow,There they flow again.
Furthermore, I have seen under the sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness and in the place of righteousness there is wickedness.
All go to the same place. All came from the dust and all return to the dust.
Even if the other man lives a thousand years twice and does not enjoy good things—do not all go to one place?”
So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out from the holy place, and they are soon forgotten in the city where they did thus. This too is futility.
If the clouds are full, they pour out rain upon the earth; and whether a tree falls toward the south or toward the north, wherever the tree falls, there it lies.
Furthermore, men are afraid of a high place and of terrors on the road; the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper drags himself along, and the caperberry is ineffective. For man goes to his eternal home while mourners go about in the street.
“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,In the secret place of the steep pathway,Let me see your form,Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet,And your form is lovely.”
And it will come about in that day, that every place where there used to be a thousand vines, valued at a thousand shekels of silver, will become briars and thorns.
As for all the hills which used to be cultivated with the hoe, you will not go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they will become a place for pasturing oxen and for sheep to trample.
They have gone through the pass, saying,“Geba will be our lodging place.”Ramah is terrified, and Gibeah of Saul has fled away.

So it will come about when Moab presents himself,When he wearies himself upon his high placeAnd comes to his sanctuary to pray,That he will not prevail.
At that time a gift of homage will be brought to the Lord of hostsFrom a people tall and smooth,Even from a people feared far and wide,A powerful and oppressive nation,Whose land the rivers divide—To the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, even Mount Zion.
“I will drive him like a peg in a firm place,And he will become a throne of glory to his father’s house.
In that day,” declares the Lord of hosts, “the peg driven in a firm place will give way; it will even break off and fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut off, for the Lord has spoken.”
For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain,And Moab will be trodden down in his placeAs straw is trodden down in the water of a manure pile.

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, “Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will let you dwell in this place.
if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your own ruin,
then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.
“But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I made My name dwell at the first, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.
therefore, I will do to the house which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave you and your fathers, as I did to Shiloh.

For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I am going to eliminate from this place, before your eyes and in your time, the voice of rejoicing and the voice of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride.

and say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, “Behold I am about to bring a calamity upon this place, at which the ears of everyone that hears of it will tingle.
Because they have forsaken Me and have made this an alien place and have burned sacrifices in it to other gods, that neither they nor their forefathers nor the kings of Judah had ever known, and because they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent
therefore, behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when this place will no longer be called Topheth or the valley of Ben-hinnom, but rather the valley of Slaughter.
I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their life; and I will give over their carcasses as food for the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth.
and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Just so will I break this people and this city, even as one breaks a potter’s vessel, which cannot again be repaired; and they will bury in Topheth because there is no other place for burial.
This is how I will treat this place and its inhabitants,” declares the Lord, “so as to make this city like Topheth.
The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be defiled like the place Topheth, because of all the houses on whose rooftops they burned sacrifices to all the heavenly host and poured out drink offerings to other gods.”’”
Thus says the Lord, “Do justice and righteousness, and deliver the one who has been robbed from the power of his oppressor. Also do not mistreat or do violence to the stranger, the orphan, or the widow; and do not shed innocent blood in this place.
For if you men will indeed perform this thing, then kings will enter the gates of this house, sitting in David’s place on his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, even the king himself and his servants and his people.
For thus says the Lord in regard to Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who became king in the place of Josiah his father, who went forth from this place, “He will never return there;

Within two years I am going to bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.
I am also going to bring back to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah who went to Babylon,’ declares the Lord, ‘for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’”
and the prophet Jeremiah said, “Amen! May the Lord do so; may the Lord confirm your words which you have prophesied to bring back the vessels of the Lord’s house and all the exiles, from Babylon to this place.
“For thus says the Lord, ‘When seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill My good word to you, to bring you back to this place.
I will be found by you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’
“Thus says the Lord,‘Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of JacobAnd have compassion on his dwelling places; And the city will be rebuilt on its ruin,And the palace will stand on its rightful place.
