'War' in the Bible
Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he planned war on Jerusalem,
So his servants took him out of the war chariot, carried him in his second chariot, and brought him to Jerusalem. Then he died, and they buried him in the tomb of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.
The king’s edict gave the Jews in each and every city the right to assemble and defend themselves, to destroy, kill, and annihilate every ethnic and provincial army hostile to them, including women and children, and to take their possessions as spoils of war.
He trains my hands for war;my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

The prophets who preceded you and me from ancient times prophesied war, disaster, and plague against many lands and great kingdoms.
“This is what the Lord says: ‘Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine, and plague, but whoever surrenders to the Chaldeans will live. He will keep his life like the spoils of war and will live.’
Indeed, I will certainly deliver you so that you do not fall by the sword. Because you have trusted in Me, you will keep your life like the spoils of war.” This is the Lord’s declaration.
and if you say, ‘No, instead we’ll go to the land of Egypt where we will not see war or hear the sound of the ram’s horn or hunger for food, and we’ll live there,’
But as for you, do you seek great things for yourself? Stop seeking! For I am about to bring disaster on every living creature’—this is the Lord’s declaration—‘but I will grant you your life like the spoils of war wherever you go.’”
I have heard a message from the Lord;a messenger has been sent among the nations:Assemble yourselves to come against her.Rise up for war!
Raise a war cry against her on every side!She has thrown up her hands in surrender;her defense towers have fallen;her walls are demolished.Since this is the Lord’s vengeance,take out your vengeance on her;as she has done, do the same to her.
The sound of war is in the land—a great destruction.

the roar of battle will rise against your people,and all your fortifications will be demolishedin a day of war,like Shalman’s destruction of Beth-arbel.Mothers will be dashed to piecesalong with their children.
They bound on the tops of the mountains.Their sound is like the sound of chariots,like the sound of fiery flames consuming stubble,like a mighty army deployed for war.
They attack as warriors attack;they scale walls as men of war do.Each goes on his own path,and they do not change their course.
Proclaim this among the nations:Prepare for holy war;rouse the warriors;let all the men of war advance and attack!
The vision of Obadiah.This is what the Lord God has said about Edom:We have heard a message from the Lord;a messenger has been sent among the nations:“Rise up, and let us go to war against her.”
But recently My people have risen uplike an enemy:You strip off the splendid robefrom those who are passing through confidently,like those returning from war.
This is what the Lord saysconcerning the prophetswho lead my people astray,who proclaim peacewhen they have food to sink their teeth intobut declare war against the onewho puts nothing in their mouths.
He will settle disputes among many peoplesand provide arbitration for strong nationsthat are far away.They will beat their swords into plows,and their spears into pruning knives.Nation will not take up the sword against nation,and they will never again train for war.
I will cut off the chariot from Ephraimand the horse from Jerusalem.The bow of war will be removed,and He will proclaim peace to the nations.His dominion will extend from sea to sea,from the Euphrates Riverto the ends of the earth.
“Or what king, going to war against another king, will not first sit down and decide if he is able with 10,000 to oppose the one who comes against him with 20,000?
But I see a different law in the parts of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and taking me prisoner to the law of sin in the parts of my body.
Who ever goes to war at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its fruit? Or who shepherds a flock and does not drink the milk from the flock?
For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way,
What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from the cravings that are at war within you?
You desire and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. You do not have because you do not ask.
Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires that war against you.
When they finish their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, conquer them, and kill them.
Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought,

Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and He judges and makes war in righteousness.
Then I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and against His army.
