Paul's Charge To Timothy

1 I solemnly charge you, in the sight of God and of Christ Jesus, who will one day judge the living and the dead--I charge you by his Appearing and by his Kingdom:--

1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:

1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

1 I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge(A) the living and the dead,(B) and because of His appearing and His kingdom:(C)

1 In the presence of God and the Messiah Jesus, who is going to judge those who are living and those who are dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I solemnly appeal to you

2 Proclaim the Message, be ready in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, encourage, never failing to instruct with forbearance.

2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

2 Proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching.

2 to proclaim the message. Be ready to do this whether or not the time is convenient. Refute, warn, and encourage with the utmost patience when you teach.

3 For a time will come when people will not tolerate sound teaching. They will follow their own wishes, and, in their itching for novelty, procure themselves a crowd of teachers.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

3 For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine,(D) but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new.(a)

3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate healthy doctrine, but with itching ears will surround themselves with teachers who cater to their people's own desires.

4 They will turn a deaf ear to the Truth, and give their attention to legends instead.

4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

4 They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths.(E)

4 They will refuse to listen to the truth and will turn to myths.

5 But you, Timothy, must always be temperate. Face hardships; do the work of a Missionary; discharge all the duties of your Office.

5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

5 But as for you, be serious about everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist,(F) fulfill your ministry.

5 But you must be clear-headed about everything. Endure suffering. Do the work of an evangelist. Devote yourself completely to your ministry.

6 As for me, my life blood is already being poured out; the time of my departure is close at hand.

6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.

6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering,(G) and the time for my departure is close.

6 I am already being poured out as an offering, and the time for my departure has come.

7 I have run the great Race; I have finished the Course; I have kept the Faith.

7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;

7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

7 I have fought the good fight. I have completed the race. I have kept the faith.

8 And now the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just Judge, will give me on 'That Day'--and not only to me, but to all who have loved his Appearing.

8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

8 There is reserved for me in the future the crown(H) of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge,(I) will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved His appearing.(J)

8 The victor's crown of righteousness is now waiting for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on the day that he comes, and not only to me but also to all who eagerly wait for his appearing.

17 But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion's mouth.

17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
