1 The apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles had welcomed God’s message also.
1 Now the apostles and (A)the brethren who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.
1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
1 Now the apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the gentiles had also accepted the word of God.
1 Now the apostles and the believers who were throughout Judea heard [with astonishment] that the Gentiles also had received and accepted the word of God [the message concerning salvation through Christ].
2 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
2 But when Peter went up to Jerusalem, those who emphasized circumcision disagreed with him.
2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision [certain Jewish believers who followed the Law] took issue with him [for violating Jewish customs],
4 Peter began to explain to them in an orderly sequence, saying:
4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
4 Then Peter began to explain to them point by point what had happened. He said,
4 But Peter began [at the beginning] and explained [the events] to them step by step, saying,
5 “I(C) was in the town of Joppa praying, and I saw, in a visionary state, an object that resembled a large sheet coming down, being lowered by its four corners from heaven, and it came to me.
5 “(E)I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw (F)a vision, an (d)object coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from (e)the sky; and it came right down to me,
5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
5 "I was in the town of Joppa praying when in a trance I saw a vision: Something like a large linen sheet descended down from heaven, lowered by its four corners, and it came right down to me.
5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision of an object coming down from heaven, like a huge sheet being lowered by the four corners; and [it descended until] it came right down to me,
6 When I looked closely and considered it, I saw the four-footed animals of the earth, the wild beasts, the reptiles, and the birds of the sky.
6 and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it (f)I saw the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the (g)crawling creatures and the birds of the (h)air.
6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
6 When I examined it closely, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the air.
6 and looking closely at it, I saw all kinds of the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the crawling creatures and the birds of the air [both clean and unclean according to the Law],
8 “‘No, Lord!’ I said. ‘For nothing common or ritually unclean has ever entered my mouth!’
8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
8 But I replied, "Absolutely not, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth!'
8 But I said, ‘Not at all, Lord; for nothing common (unholy) or [ceremonially] unclean has ever entered my mouth.’
9 But a voice answered from heaven a second time, ‘What God has made clean, you must not call common.’
9 But a voice from heaven answered a second time, ‘(G)What God has cleansed, no longer (k)consider unholy.’
9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
9 Then the voice from heaven answered a second time, "You must stop calling common what God has made clean!'
9 But the voice from heaven answered a second time, ‘What God has cleansed and pronounced clean, no longer consider common (unholy).’
10 “Now this happened three times, and then everything was drawn up again into heaven.
10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
10 This happened three times. Then everything was pulled back up to heaven.

11 At that very moment, three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were.
11 And behold, at that moment three men appeared at the house in which we were staying, having been sent to me from (H)Caesarea.
11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
11 "At that very moment three men arrived at the house where we were staying. They had been sent to me from Caesarea.

12 Then the Spirit told me to accompany them with no doubts at all. These six brothers accompanied me, and we went into the man’s house.(D)
12 (I)The Spirit told me to go with them (m)(J)without misgivings. (K)These six brethren also went with me and we entered the man’s house.
12 And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:
12 The Spirit told me to go with them without hesitating. These six brothers went with me, too, and we entered the house of the man from Caesarea.
12 The Spirit told me to go with them without the slightest hesitation. So these six brothers also went with me and we went to the man’s house.
13 He reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send(b) to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is also named Peter.
13 And he reported to us how he had seen the angel (n)standing in his house, and saying, ‘Send to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here;
13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
13 Then he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his home and saying, "Send messengers to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter.
13 And Cornelius told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, saying, ‘Send word to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here;
16 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’(G)
16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘(P)John baptized with water, but you will be baptized (o)with the Holy Spirit.’
16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: "John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
16 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
17 Therefore, if God gave them the same gift that He also gave to us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God?”(H)
17 Therefore if (Q)God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, (R)who was I that I could (p)stand in God’s way?”
17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
17 Now if God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, who was I to try to stop God?"
17 So, if God gave Gentiles the same gift [equally] as He gave us after we accepted and believed and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ [as Savior], who was I to interfere or stand in God’s way?”
18 When they heard this they became silent. Then they glorified God, saying, “So God has granted repentance resulting in life(d) even to the Gentiles!”(I)
18 When they heard this, they (q)quieted down and (S)glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the (T)repentance that leads to life.”
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
18 When they heard this, they calmed down, and praised God by saying, "So God has given repentance that leads to life even to gentiles."
18 When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified and praised God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance that leads to eternal life [that is, real life after earthly death].”
19 Those who had been scattered as a result of the persecution that started because of Stephen made their way as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch,(J) speaking the message to no one except Jews.
19 (U)So then those who were scattered because of the (r)persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way (s)to (V)Phoenicia and (W)Cyprus and (X)Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.
19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
19 Now the people who were scattered by the persecution that started because of Stephen went as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.
19 So then [since they were unaware of these developments] those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with [the stoning of] Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, without telling the message [of salvation through Christ] to anyone except Jews.
20 But there were some of them, Cypriot and Cyrenian men, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Hellenists,(e)(f) proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.(K)
20 But there were some of them, men of (Y)Cyprus and (Z)Cyrene, who came to (AA)Antioch and began speaking to the (t)(AB)Greeks also, (u)(AC)preaching the Lord Jesus.
20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
20 But among them were some men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began proclaiming the Lord Jesus even to the Hellenistic Jews.
20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks as well, proclaiming [to them] the good news about the Lord Jesus.
21 And (AD)the hand of the Lord was with them, and (AE)a large number who believed turned to the Lord.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

22 Then the report about them was heard by the church that was at Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to travel(g) as far as Antioch.
22 The (v)news about them (w)reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent (AF)Barnabas off (x)to (AG)Antioch.
22 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
22 When the church in Jerusalem heard this news, they sent Barnabas all the way to Antioch.
22 The news of this reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
23 When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged all of them to remain true to the Lord with a firm resolve of the heart,(M)
23 Then when he arrived and (y)witnessed (AH)the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with (z)resolute heart to remain true to the Lord;
23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
23 When he arrived, he rejoiced to see what the grace of God had done, and with hearty determination he kept encouraging all of them to remain faithful to the Lord,
23 When he arrived and saw the grace of God [that was bestowed on them], he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with an unwavering heart to stay true and devoted to the Lord.
24 for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit(N) and of faith. And large numbers of people were added(O) to the Lord.
24 for he was a good man, and (AI)full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And (AJ)considerable (aa)numbers were (ab)brought to the Lord.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
24 because he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith. And so a large number of people was brought to the Lord.
24 For Barnabas was a good man [privately and publicly—his godly character benefited both himself and others] and he was full of the Holy Spirit and full of faith [in Jesus the Messiah, through whom believers have everlasting life]. And a great number of people were brought to the Lord.
26 and when he found him he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught large numbers. The disciples(P) were first called Christians at Antioch.(Q)
26 and when he had found him, he brought him to (AL)Antioch. And for an entire year they (ac)met with the church and taught considerable (ad)numbers; and (AM)the disciples were first called (AN)Christians in (AO)Antioch.
26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
26 When he found him, he brought him to Antioch, and for a whole year they were guests of the church and taught many people. It was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.
28 Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine throughout the Roman world.(i) This took place during the time of Claudius.(j)(S)
28 One of them named (AR)Agabus stood up and began to indicate (af)by the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine (AS)all over the (ag)world. (ah)And this took place in the reign of (AT)Claudius.
28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
28 One of them named Agabus got up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine all over the world. This happened during the reign of Claudius.
29 So each of the disciples, according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Judea.(T)
29 And in the proportion that any of (AU)the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the (ai)relief of (AV)the brethren living in Judea.
29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
29 So all of the disciples decided they would send a contribution to the brothers living in Judea, as they were able,
