Daniel's Prayer For His People

¹ In the first year of Darius, the son of Ahasuerus, a Mede by birth, who was ruler over the kingdom of the Chaldeans: ² In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the books according to the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet that the number of years for the desolation of Jerusalem would be 70. ³ So I turned my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and petitions, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.

2 Chronicles 36:21

This fulfilled the word of the Lord through Jeremiah and the land enjoyed its Sabbath rest all the days of the desolation until 70 years were fulfilled.

Jeremiah 29:10

For this is what the Lord says: “When 70 years for Babylon are complete, I will attend to you and will confirm My promise concerning you to restore you to this place.

Zechariah 7:5

“Ask all the people of the land and the priests: When you fasted and lamented in the fifth and in the seventh months for these 70 years, did you really fast for Me?

Jeremiah 25:11-12

This whole land will become a desolate ruin, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon for 70 years.

Ezra 1:1
