Historical Prologue

²⁷ Go to the top of (Mount) Pisgah, and look west, north, south, and east. You may look at the land, but you will never cross the Jordan River. ²⁸ But charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him, for he shall go across at the head of this people, and he will give them as an inheritance the land which you will see.’ ²⁹ So we stayed in the valley at Beth Peor.

Deuteronomy 31:3

Jehovah your God is the one who will cross the river ahead of you. He will destroy those nations as you arrive. You will take possession of their land. Joshua will also cross the river ahead of you, as Jehovah told you.

Deuteronomy 1:38

Your assistant Joshua son of Nun will go there. He will lead the people into the land. Encourage him to go there.

Deuteronomy 31:7

Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the presence of all the people of Israel: Be determined and with good courage. You are the one who will lead these people to occupy the land Jehovah promised to their ancestors.

Deuteronomy 31:23

Jehovah gave this command to Joshua, son of Nun: Be strong and courageous, because you will bring the Israelites into the land that I swore to give them, and I will be with you.
