11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

11 The Lord spoke to Moses:

11 The LORD told Moses,

12 "When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel and tellest them, they shall give every man a reconciling of his soul unto the LORD, that there be no plague among them when thou tellest them.

12 “When you take (D)a (l)census of the sons of Israel (m)to number them, then each one of them shall give (E)a ransom for (n)himself to the Lord, when you (o)number them, so that there will be no plague among them when you (p)number them.

12 When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.

12 “When you take a census(E) of the Israelites to register them, each of the men must pay a ransom(F) for himself to the Lord as they are registered. Then no plague(G) will come on them as they are registered.

12 "When you take a census of the Israelis to register them, each is to give a ransom for himself to the LORD when they're registered so there won't be a plague among them when they're registered.

13 And thus much shall every man give that goeth in the number: half a sicle, after the holy sicle: a sicle is twenty geras: and a half sicle shall be the heave offering unto the LORD.

13 This is what everyone who (q)is numbered shall give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary ((F)the shekel is twenty gerahs), half a shekel as a (r)contribution to the Lord.

13 This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD.

13 Everyone who is registered must pay half a shekel(g) according to the sanctuary shekel (20 gerahs to the shekel). This half shekel is a contribution to the Lord.(H)

13 This is what everyone who is registered is to give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel weighs 20 gerahs), half a shekel as a contribution to the LORD.

14 And all that are numbered of them that are twenty years old and above shall give a heave offering unto the LORD.

14 Everyone who (s)is numbered, from twenty years old and over, shall give the (t)contribution to the Lord.

14 Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD.

14 Each man who is registered, 20 years old or more, must give this contribution to the Lord.

14 All who are registered, 20 years of age and older, are to give a contribution to the LORD.

15 The rich shall not pass, and the poor shall not go under, half a sicle; when they give a heave offering unto the LORD for the atonement of their souls.

15 The rich shall not pay more and the poor shall not pay less than the half shekel, when you give the (u)contribution to the Lord to make atonement for (v)yourselves.

15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

15 The wealthy may not give more and the poor may not give less(I) than half a shekel when giving the contribution to the Lord to atone for(h) your lives.

15 The rich person is not to give more, nor is the poor person to give less than the half shekel, when you give a contribution to the LORD to make atonement for yourselves.

16 And thou shalt take the reconciling money of the children of Israel and shalt put it unto the use of the tabernacle of witness, and it shall be a memorial of the children of Israel before the LORD, to make atonement for their souls."

16 You shall take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and shall give it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may be a memorial for the sons of Israel before the Lord, to make atonement for (w)yourselves.”

16 And thou shalt take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

16 Take the atonement money(i) from the Israelites and use it for the service of the tent of meeting. It will serve as a reminder for the Israelites before the Lord to atone for(j) your lives.”(J)

16 You are to take the atonement money from the Israelis and give it for the service of the Tent of Meeting, and it is to be a memorial for the Israelis in the LORD's presence to make atonement for yourselves."

19 that Aaron and his sons may wash both their hands and their feet thereout,

19 Aaron and his sons shall (I)wash their hands and their feet from it;

19 For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat:

19 Aaron and his sons must wash their hands and feet from the basin.

19 and Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and their feet from it.

20 when they go into the tabernacle of witness, or when they go unto the altar to minister and to burn the LORD's offering, lest they die.

20 when they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, so that they will not die; or when they approach the altar to minister, by offering up in smoke a fire sacrifice to the Lord.

20 When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD:

20 Whenever they enter the tent of meeting or approach the altar to minister by burning up an offering to the Lord, they must wash with water so that they will not die.

20 When they enter the Tent of Meeting or when they approach the altar to minister to make an offering by fire to the LORD, they are to wash with water so they don't die.

21 And it shall be an ordinance forever unto him and his seed among your children after you."

21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they will not die; and (J)it shall be a perpetual statute for them, for (y)Aaron and his (z)descendants throughout their generations.”

21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.

29 You shall also consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them shall be holy.

29 And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.

29 Consecrate them and they will be especially holy. Whatever touches them will be consecrated.

31 You are to address the Israelis and tell them, "This is to be holy anointing oil for me from generation to generation.

32 No man's flesh shall be anointed therewith: neither shall ye make any other after the making of it for it is holy, see therefore that ye take it for holy:

32 It shall not be poured on (ab)anyone’s body, nor shall you make any like it in (ac)the same proportions; (N)it is holy, and it shall be holy to you.

32 Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.

32 It must not be used for ordinary anointing on a person’s body, and you must not make anything like it using its formula. It is holy, and it must be holy to you.

32 It is not to be poured out on a person's body, nor are you to make anything like it with similar formulations. It is holy, and it is to be holy to you.

The Sacred Incense

34 And the LORD said unto Moses, "Take unto thee sweet spices: stacte, onycha, sweet galbanum and pure frankincense, of each like much:

34 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Take for yourself spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, spices with pure frankincense; there shall be an equal part of each.

34 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight:

34 The Lord said to Moses: “Take fragrant spices: stacte, onycha, and galbanum; the spices and pure frankincense are to be in equal measures.

34 The LORD told Moses, "Take for yourself spices: stacte, onycha, galbanum, and spices with pure frankincense, all in equal amounts.

35 and make cense of them compounded after the craft of the apothecary, mingled together, that it may be made pure and holy.

35 With it you shall make incense, a perfume, the work of a perfumer, salted, pure, and holy.

35 And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy:

35 Prepare expertly blended incense from these; it is to be seasoned with salt, pure and holy.

35 You are to make it into a fragrant incense, expertly blended, pure, and holy.

36 And beat it to powder and put it before the witness in the tabernacle of witness, where I will meet thee, but let it be unto you holy.

36 You shall beat some of it very fine, and put part of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting (Q)where I will meet with you; it shall be most holy to you.

36 And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.

36 Grind some of it into a fine powder and put some in front of the testimony in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with you. It must be especially holy(S) to you.

36 You are to grind some of it fine, and put some before the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting where I will meet with you. It is to be most holy to you.

37 And see that ye make none after the making of that, but let it be unto you holy for the LORD.

37 The incense which you shall make, (R)you shall not make in (af)the same proportions for yourselves; it shall be holy to you for the Lord.

37 And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD.

37 As for the incense you are making, you must not make any for yourselves using its formula. It is to be regarded by you as sacred to the Lord.

37 You are not to make the incense that you make in this formulation for your own use. It is to be holy to the LORD for you.

38 And whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall perish from among his people."

38 (S)Whoever shall make any like it, to (ag)use as perfume, (ah)shall be cut off from his people.”

38 Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people.

38 Anyone who makes something like it to smell its fragrance must be cut off from his people.”

38 Anyone who makes anything like it to use it as perfume is to be cut off from his people."
