God Tests Abraham

¹ Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” ² Take your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.

Deuteronomy 8:2

Remember the forty years Jehovah your God led you in the wilderness. He did this in order to humble you and test you. He wanted to know what was in your heart. Whether you would obey his commandments.

Hebrews 11:17

By faith Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. He that had gladly received the promises was offering up his only-begotten son!

Exodus 3:4

Exodus 15:25-26

Moses cried out to Jehovah. Jehovah showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. Jehovah presented laws and rules for them to live by. He tested them there.

Exodus 16:4

Jehovah said to Moses: I am going to cause food to rain down from the sky for all of you. The people must go out every day and gather enough for that day. In this way I can test them to find out if they will follow my instructions.

Deuteronomy 8:16

He fed you in the desert with manna. Your fathers had never seen this. He did this in order to humble you and test you. But he also did this so that things would go well for you in the end.

Deuteronomy 13:3

do not listen to them. Jehovah your God is allowing them to test you. He will then know that you love Jehovah with all your heart.

Proverbs 17:3
