Entering The Ark

1 And the LORD said unto Noah, "Go into the ark both thou and all thy household. For thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

1 Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be (A)righteous before Me in this (a)time.

1 Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you alone are righteous before Me in this generation.(A)

1 Then the LORD told Noah, "Come you and all your household into the ark, because I've seen that you alone are righteous in this generation.

2 Of all clean beasts take unto thee seven of every kind, the male and his female, and of unclean beasts a pair, the male and his female:

2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

2 You shall take (b)with you of every (B)clean animal (c)by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female;

2 You are to take with you seven pairs, a male and its female, of all the clean animals,(B) and two of the animals that are not clean, a male and its female,

2 You are to take with you seven pairs of every clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of the unclean animals, a male and its mate;

3 likewise of the birds of the air seven of every kind, male and female to save seed upon all the earth.

3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

3 also of the birds of the (d)sky, (e)by sevens, male and female, to keep (f)offspring alive on the face of all the earth.

3 and seven pairs, male and female, of the birds of the sky—in order to keep offspring alive on the face of the whole earth.

3 along with seven pairs of the flying birds, male and female, in order to keep their offspring alive on the surface of all the earth.

4 For seven days hence will I send rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights and will destroy all manner of things that I have made, from off the face of the earth."

4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

4 For after (C)seven more days, I will send rain on the earth (D)forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land (E)every living thing that I have made.”

4 Seven days from now I will make it rain on the earth 40 days and 40 nights, and I will wipe off from the face of the earth every living thing I have made.”

4 Seven days from now I'll send rain on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights, and I'll destroy every living creature that I've made."

5 And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him:

5 And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

5 (F)Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded him.

5 And Noah did everything that the Lord commanded him.(C)

5 Noah did everything that the LORD commanded.

The Flood

6 and Noah was six hundred years old, when the flood of water came upon the earth.

6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

6 Now Noah was (G)six hundred years old when the flood of water (g)came upon the earth.

6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood came and water covered the earth.

6 Noah was 600 years old when water began to flood the earth.

7 And Noah went, and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him, into the ark from the waters of the flood.

7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.

7 Then (H)Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the water of the flood.

7 So Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives entered the ark because of the waters of the flood.

7 Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives entered the ark with him before the flood waters arrived.

8 And of clean beasts and of beasts that were unclean and of birds and of all that creepeth upon the earth,

8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,

8 (I)Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground,

8 From the clean animals, unclean animals, birds, and every creature that crawls on the ground,

8 From both clean and unclean animals, from birds, and from everything that crawls on the ground,

9 came in by couples of every kind unto Noah into the ark: a male and a female: even as God commanded Noah.

9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

9 there went into the ark to Noah (h)by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.

9 two of each, male and female, entered the ark with Noah, just as God had commanded him.

9 two by two, male and female, they entered the ark to join Noah, just as God had commanded.

10 And the seventh day the waters of the flood came upon the earth.

10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

10 It came about after (J)the seven days, that the water of the flood (i)came upon the earth.

10 Seven days later the waters of the flood came on the earth.

10 Seven days later, the flooding started.

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, in the seventeenth day of the month, that same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened,

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

11 In the (K)six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all (L)the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the (j)floodgates of the sky were opened.

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the sources of the watery depths burst open,(D) the floodgates of the sky were opened,(E)

11 On the seventeenth day of the second month, when Noah was 600 years old, all the springs of the great deep burst open, the floodgates of the heavens were opened,

12 and there fell a rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

12 (M)The rain (k)fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

12 and the rain fell on the earth 40 days and 40 nights.

12 and it rained throughout the earth for 40 days and 40 nights.

13 And the selfsame day went Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons with them in to the ark:

13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

13 On the very same day (N)Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark,

13 On that same day Noah along with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah’s wife, and his three sons’ wives entered the ark with him.

13 On that very day, Noah entered the ark with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah's wife, his sons' three wives with them,

14 both they and all manner of beasts in their kind, and all manner of cattle in their kind and all manner of worms that creep upon the earth in their kind, and all manner of birds in their kind, and all manner of fowls whatsoever had feathers.

14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.

14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after (l)their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, (m)all sorts of birds.

14 They entered it with all the wildlife according to their kinds, all livestock according to their kinds, the creatures that crawl on the earth according to their kinds, all birds, every fowl, and everything with wings according to their kinds.

14 along with every species of wild animal, livestock, crawling creature, bird, and every creature that has wings.

15 And they came unto Noah into the ark by couples, of all flesh that had breath of life in it.

15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

15 So they went into the ark to Noah, (O)by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life.

15 Two of all flesh that has the breath of life in it entered the ark with Noah.

15 Two of each living creature entered the ark with Noah.

16 And they that came, came male and female of every flesh according as God commanded him: and the LORD shut the door upon him.

16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.

16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed it behind him.

16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered just as God had commanded him. Then the Lord shut him in.

16 The males and females of each living creature entered the ark, just as God had commanded. Then the LORD sealed them inside.

17 And the flood came forty days and forty nights upon the earth, and the water increased and bare up the ark and it was lift up from off the earth.

17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.

17 Then the flood (n)came upon the earth for (P)forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth.

17 The flood continued for 40 days on the earth; the waters increased and lifted up the ark so that it rose above the earth.

17 The flood continued throughout the earth for 40 days, while the flood waters increased, lifting the ark so that it rose above the surface of the earth.

18 And the water prevailed and increased exceedingly upon the earth: and the ark went upon the top of the waters.

18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

18 The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark (o)floated on the (p)surface of the water.

18 The waters surged and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water.

18 The flood waters continued to surge, increasing throughout the earth, while the ark floated on the surface of the flood water.

19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly above measure upon the earth, so that all the high hills which are under all the parts of heaven were covered:

19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.

19 The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains (q)everywhere under the heavens were covered.

19 Then the waters surged even higher on the earth, and all the high mountains under the whole sky were covered.

19 The flood water surged even higher throughout the earth, until all the highest mountains under the sky were covered.

20 even fifteen cubits high prevailed the waters, so that the hills were covered.

20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

20 The water prevailed fifteen (r)cubits higher, (Q)and the mountains were covered.

20 The mountains were covered as the waters surged above them more than 20 feet.(a)

20 The flood waters rose 15 cubits above the mountains.

21 And all flesh that moved on the earth, both birds, cattle and beasts, perished; with all that crept on the earth, and all men:

21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:

21 (R)All flesh that (s)moved on the earth perished, birds and cattle and beasts and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind;

21 Every creature perished—those that crawl on the earth, birds, livestock, wildlife, and those that swarm(b) on the earth, as well as all mankind.

21 Every living thing on earth died flying creatures, livestock, wildlife, all creatures that swarm over the earth, and all human beings.

22 so that all that had the breath of life in the nostrils of it, throughout all that was on dry land, died.

22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

22 of all that was on the dry land, all (S)in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died.

22 Everything with the breath of the spirit of life in its nostrils(F)—everything on dry land died.

22 Everything that breathed and everything that had lived on dry land died.

23 Thus was destroyed all that was upon the earth; both man, beasts, worms and fowls of the air, so that they were destroyed from the earth: save Noah was reserved only and they that were with him in the ark.

23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

23 Thus He blotted out (t)every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the (u)sky, and they were blotted out from the earth; and only (T)Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark.

23 He wiped out every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, from mankind to livestock, to creatures that crawl, to the birds of the sky, and they were wiped off the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark.(G)

23 All existing creatures that had lived on the surface of the ground were annihilated, from humans to livestock, from crawling creatures to birds of the sky. They were wiped off the earth. Only Noah remained, along with those who were with him in the ark.

24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth, a hundred and fifty days.

24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

24 (U)The water prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days.

24 And the waters surged on the earth 150 days.

24 The flood waters surged over the earth for 150 days.
