God's Covenant With Noah And Humankind

11 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.

11 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

11 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

11 God blessed Noah and his sons and ordered them, "Be productive, multiply, and fill the earth.

11 And God pronounced a blessing upon Noah and his sons and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

22 "The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given.

22 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

22 The fear and terror of you will be in every living creature on the earth, every bird of the sky, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are placed under your authority.

22 All the living creatures of the earth will be filled with fear and terror of you from now on, including all the creatures that fly in the sky, everything that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the ocean. They've been assigned to live under your dominion.

22 And the fear of you and the dread and terror of you shall be upon every beast of the land, every bird of the air, all that creeps upon the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are delivered into your hand.

33 "Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant.

33 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

33 Every living creature will be food for you; as [I gave] the green plants, I have given you everything.

33 "Every living, moving creature will be food for you. Just as I gave you green plants before, so now you have everything.

33 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green vegetables and plants, I give you everything.

44 "Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

44 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

44 However, you must not eat meat with its lifeblood in it.

44 However, you are not to eat meat with its life that is, its blood in it!

44 But you shall not eat flesh with the life of it, which is its blood.

55 "Surely I will require your lifeblood; from every beast I will require it. And from every man, from every man's brother I will require the life of man.

55 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

55 I will require the life of every animal and every man for your life and your blood. I will require the life of each man's brother for a man's life.

55 Also, I will certainly demand an accounting regarding bloodshed, from every animal and from every human being. I'll demand an accounting from every human being for the life of another human being.

55 And surely for your lifeblood I will require an accounting; from every beast I will require it; and from man, from every man [who spills another's lifeblood] I will require a reckoning.

66 "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.

66 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

66 Whoever sheds man's blood, his blood will be shed by man, for God made man in His image.

66 "Whoever sheds human blood, by a human his own blood is to be shed; because God made human beings in his own image.

66 Whoever sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God He made man.

77 "As for you, be fruitful and multiply; Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it."

77 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

77 But you, be fruitful and multiply; spread out over the earth and multiply on it."

77 Now as for you, be productive and multiply; spread out over the land and multiply throughout it."

77 And you, be fruitful and multiply; bring forth abundantly on the earth and multiply on it.

God's Promise - The Sign Of The Rainbow

88 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,

88 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,

88 Then God said to Noah and his sons with him,

88 Later, God told Noah and his sons,

88 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,

99 "Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you;

99 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;

99 "Understand that I am confirming My covenant with you and your descendants after you,

99 "Pay attention! I'm establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants after you,

99 Behold, I establish My covenant or pledge with you and with your descendants after you

1010 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, even every beast of the earth.

1010 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.

1010 and with every living creature that is with you-birds, livestock, and all wildlife of the earth that are with you-all the animals of the earth that came out of the ark.

1010 and with every living creature that is with you the flying creatures, the livestock, and all the wildlife of the earth that are with you all the earth's animals that came out of the ark.

1010 And with every living creature that is with you -- "whether the birds, the livestock, or the wild beasts of the earth along with you, as many as came out of the ark -- "every animal of the earth.

1111 "I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth."

1111 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

1111 I confirm My covenant with you that never again will all flesh be wiped out by the waters of a deluge; there will never again be a deluge to destroy the earth."

1111 I will establish my covenant with you: No living beings will ever be cut off again by flood waters, and there will never again be a flood that destroys the earth."

1111 I will establish My covenant or pledge with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood; neither shall there ever again be a flood to destroy the earth and make it corrupt.

1212 God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations;

1212 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

1212 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between Me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all future generations:

1212 God also said, "Here's the symbol that represents the covenant that I'm making between me and you and every living being with you, for all future generations:

1212 And God said, This is the token of the covenant (solemn pledge) which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:

1313 I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.

1313 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

1313 I have placed My bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.

1313 I've set my rainbow in the sky to symbolize the covenant between me and the earth.

1313 I set My bow [rainbow] in the cloud, and it shall be a token or sign of a covenant or solemn pledge between Me and the earth.

1414 "It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud,

1414 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

1414 Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,

1414 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow becomes visible in the clouds,

1414 And it shall be that when I bring clouds over the earth and the bow [rainbow] is seen in the clouds,

1515 and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.

1515 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

1515 I will remember My covenant between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh: water will never again become a deluge to destroy all flesh.

1515 I'll remember my covenant between me and you and every living creature, so that water will never again become a flood to destroy all living beings.

1515 I will [earnestly] remember My covenant or solemn pledge which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy and make all flesh corrupt.

1616 "When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."

1616 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

1616 The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh on earth."

1616 When the rainbow is in the clouds, I will observe it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living beings on the earth."

1616 When the bow [rainbow] is in the clouds and I look upon it, I will [earnestly] remember the everlasting covenant or pledge between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

1717 And God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth."

1717 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

1717 God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant that I have confirmed between Me and all flesh on earth."

1717 God also told Noah, "This is the symbol of the covenant that I've established between me and everything that lives on the earth."

1717 And God said to Noah, This [rainbow] is the token or sign of the covenant or solemn pledge which I have established between Me and all flesh upon the earth.

Noah's Descendants

1818 Now the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem and Ham and Japheth; and Ham was the father of Canaan.

1818 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

1818 Noah's sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.

1818 Noah's sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham later fathered Canaan.)

1818 The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan [born later].

1919 These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.

1919 These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.

1919 These three were Noah's sons, and from them the whole earth was populated.

1919 These three were Noah's sons, and from these men the whole earth was repopulated.

1919 These are the three sons of Noah, and from them the whole earth was overspread and stocked with inhabitants.

2020 Then Noah began farming and planted a vineyard.

2020 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:

2020 Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard.

2020 Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant and farm a vineyard.

2020 And Noah began to cultivate the ground, and he planted a vineyard.

2121 He drank of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent.

2121 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

2121 He drank some of the wine, became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent.

2121 He drank some of the wine, got drunk, and lay down naked right in the middle of his tent.

2121 And he drank of the wine and became drunk, and he was uncovered and lay naked in his tent.

2222 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.

2222 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

2222 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside.

2222 Ham, who fathered Canaan, saw his father's genitals and told his two brothers outside.

2222 And Ham, the father of Canaan, glanced at and saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside.

2323 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father's nakedness.

2323 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

2323 Then Shem and Japheth took a cloak and placed it over both their shoulders, and walking backwards, they covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father naked.

2323 Then Shem and Japheth took their father's cloak, laid it across both their shoulders, and walking backwards, they both covered their father's genitals. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's genitals.

2323 So Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon the shoulders of both, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they did not see their father's nakedness.

2424 When Noah awoke from his wine, he knew what his youngest son had done to him.

2424 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

2424 When Noah awoke from his drinking and learned what his youngest son had done to him,

2424 When Noah sobered up and learned what his youngest son had done to him,

2424 When Noah awoke from his wine, and knew the thing which his youngest son had done to him,

2525 So he said, "Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brothers."

2525 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

2525 he said: Canaan will be cursed. He will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers.

2525 he said, "Canaan is cursed! He will be the lowest of slaves to his relatives."

2525 He exclaimed, Cursed be Canaan! He shall be the servant of servants to his brethren!

2626 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, The God of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant.

2626 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

2626 He also said: Praise the Lord, the God of Shem; Canaan will be his slave.

2626 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD God of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave.

2626 He also said, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem! And blessed by the Lord my God be Shem! And let Canaan be his servant.

2727 "May God enlarge Japheth, And let him dwell in the tents of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant."

2727 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

2727 God will extend Japheth; he will dwell in the tents of Shem; Canaan will be his slave.

2727 May God make room for Japheth; may God live in Shem's tents, and may Canaan serve him."

2727 May God enlarge Japheth; and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant.

2828 Noah lived three hundred and fifty years after the flood.

2828 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.

2828 Now Noah lived 350 years after the flood.

2828 Noah lived 350 years after the flood.

2828 And Noah lived after the flood 350 years.

2929 So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died.

2929 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

2929 So Noah's life lasted 950 years; then he died.

2929 After Noah had lived a total of 950 years, he died.

2929 All the days of Noah were 950 years, and he died.
