Elihu Extols God's Greatness

11 Then Elihu continued and said,

11 Elihu also proceeded, and said,

11 Then Elihu continued, saying:

11 Elihu responded again and said:

11 Elihu proceeded and said,

22 "Wait for me a little, and I will show you That there is yet more to be said in God's behalf.

22 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.

22 Be patient with me a little longer, and I will inform you, for there is still more to be said on God's behalf.

22 "Be patient with me a moment longer, and I'll show you that there's more to say on God's behalf.

22 Bear with me and wait a little longer, and I will show you, for I have something still to say on God's behalf.

33 "I will fetch my knowledge from afar, And I will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

33 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

33 I will get my knowledge from afar and ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

33 I'll take what I know to its logical conclusion and ascribe righteousness to my Creator,

33 I will bring my knowledge from afar and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

44 "For truly my words are not false; One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

44 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.

44 For my arguments are without flaw; one who has perfect knowledge is with you.

44 because what I have to say isn't deceptive, and the one who has perfect knowledge is with you."

44 For truly my words shall not be false; He Who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

God's Justice Is Beyond Human Understanding

55 "Behold, God is mighty but does not despise any; He is mighty in strength of understanding.

55 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

55 Yes, God is mighty, but He despises [no one]; He understands all things.

55 "Indeed God is mighty and he doesn't show disrespect; he is mighty and strong of heart.

55 Behold! God is mighty, and yet despises no one nor regards anything as trivial; He is mighty in power of understanding and heart.

66 "He does not keep the wicked alive, But gives justice to the afflicted.

66 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

66 He does not keep the wicked alive, but He gives justice to the afflicted.

66 He doesn't let the wicked live; he grants justice to the afflicted.

66 He does not prolong the life of the wicked, but gives the needy and afflicted their right.

77 "He does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous; But with kings on the throne He has seated them forever, and they are exalted.

77 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

77 He does not remove His gaze from the righteous, but He seats them forever with enthroned kings, and they are exalted.

77 He won't stop looking at righteous people; he seats them on thrones with kings forever, and they are exalted.

77 He withdraws not His eyes from the righteous (the upright in right standing with God); but He sets them forever with kings upon the throne, and they are exalted.

88 "And if they are bound in fetters, And are caught in the cords of affliction,

88 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;

88 If people are bound with chains and trapped by the cords of affliction,

88 "If they're bound in chains, caught in ropes of affliction,

88 And if they are bound in fetters [of adversity] and held by cords of affliction,

99 Then He declares to them their work And their transgressions, that they have magnified themselves.

99 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

99 God tells them what they have done and how arrogantly they have transgressed.

99 he'll reveal their actions to them, when their transgressions have become excessive.

99 Then He shows to them [the true character of] their deeds and their transgressions, that they have acted arrogantly [with presumption and self-sufficiency].

1010 "He opens their ear to instruction, And commands that they return from evil.

1010 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

1010 He opens their ears to correction and insists they repent from iniquity.

1010 He opens their ears and instructs them, commanding them to repent from evil.

1010 He also opens their ears to instruction and discipline, and commands that they return from iniquity.

1111 "If they hear and serve Him, They will end their days in prosperity And their years in pleasures.

1111 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

1111 If they serve Him obediently, they will end their days in prosperity and their years in happiness.

1111 If they listen and serve him, they'll finish their lives in prosperity and their years will be pleasant.

1111 If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasantness and joy.

1212 "But if they do not hear, they shall perish by the sword And they will die without knowledge.

1212 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

1212 But if they do not obey, they will cross the river [of death] and die without knowledge.

1212 "But if they won't listen, they'll perish by the sword and die in their ignorance.

1212 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword [of God's destructive judgments], and they shall die in ignorance of true knowledge.

1313 "But the godless in heart lay up anger; They do not cry for help when He binds them.

1313 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

1313 Those who have a godless heart harbor anger; even when God binds them, they do not cry for help.

1313 The godless at heart cherish anger; they won't cry out for help when God afflicts them.

1313 But the godless and profane in heart heap up anger [at the divine discipline]; they do not cry to Him when He binds them [with cords of affliction].

1414 "They die in youth, And their life perishes among the cult prostitutes.

1414 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.

1414 They die in their youth; their life [ends] among male cult prostitutes.

1414 They die in their youth; and their life will end among temple prostitutes.

1414 They die in youth, and their life perishes among the unclean (those who are sodomites).

1515 "He delivers the afflicted in their affliction, And opens their ear in time of oppression.

1515 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

1515 God rescues the afflicted by afflicting them; He instructs them by means of their torment.

1515 He'll deliver the afflicted through their afflictions and open their ears when they are oppressed."

1515 He delivers the afflicted in their affliction and opens their ears [to His voice] in adversity.

1616 "Then indeed, He enticed you from the mouth of distress, Instead of it, a broad place with no constraint; And that which was set on your table was full of fatness.

1616 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.

1616 Indeed, He lured you from the jaws of distress to a spacious and unconfined place. Your table was spread with choice food.

1616 "Indeed, he drew you away from the brink of distress to a spacious place without constraints, filling your festive table with bountiful food.

1616 Indeed, God would have allured you out of the mouth of distress into a broad place where there is no situation of perplexity or privation; and that which would be set on your table would be full of fatness.

1717 "But you were full of judgment on the wicked; Judgment and justice take hold of you.

1717 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.

1717 Yet [now] you are obsessed with the judgment due the wicked; judgment and justice have seized you.

1717 But now you are occupied with the case of the wicked; but justice and judgment will be served.

1717 But if you [Job] are filled with the judgment of the wicked, judgment and justice will keep hold on you.

1818 "Beware that wrath does not entice you to scoffing; And do not let the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.

1818 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

1818 Be careful that no one lures you with riches; do not let a large ransom lead you astray.

1818 So that no one entices you with riches, don't let a large ransom turn you astray.

1818 For let not wrath entice you into scorning chastisements; and let not the greatness of the ransom [the suffering, if rightly endured] turn you aside.

1919 "Will your riches keep you from distress, Or all the forces of your strength?

1919 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.

1919 Can your wealth or all [your] physical exertion keep [you] from distress?

1919 "Will your wealth sustain you when you're in distress, despite your most powerful efforts?

1919 Will your cry be sufficient to keep you from distress, or will all the force of your strength do it?

2020 "Do not long for the night, When people vanish in their place.

2020 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.

2020 Do not long for the night when nations will disappear from their places.

2020 Don't long for night, when people vanish in their place.

2020 Desire not the night, when peoples are cut off from their places;

2121 "Be careful, do not turn to evil, For you have preferred this to affliction.

2121 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

2121 Be careful that you do not turn to iniquity, for that is why you have been tested by affliction.

2121 Be careful! Don't turn to evil, because of this you will be tried by more than affliction.

2121 Take heed, turn not to iniquity, for this [the iniquity of complaining against God] you have chosen rather than [submission in] affliction.

2222 "Behold, God is exalted in His power; Who is a teacher like Him?

2222 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?

2222 Look, God shows Himself exalted by His power. Who is a teacher like Him?

2222 "Indeed, God is exalted in his power. Who is like him as a teacher?

2222 Behold, God exalts and does loftily in His power; who is a ruler or a teacher like Him?

2323 "Who has appointed Him His way, And who has said, 'You have done wrong'?

2323 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?

2323 Who has appointed His way for Him, and who has declared, "You have done wrong"?

2323 Who ordained his path for him, and who has asked him, "You are wrong, aren't you?'

2323 Who has appointed God His way? Or who can say, You have done unrighteousness?

2424 "Remember that you should exalt His work, Of which men have sung.

2424 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

2424 Remember that you should praise His work, which people have sung about.

2424 Remember to magnify his awesome activities, about which mortal man has sung.

2424 Remember that [by submission] you magnify God's work, of which men have sung.

2525 "All men have seen it; Man beholds from afar.

2525 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.

2525 All mankind has seen it; people have looked at it from a distance.

2525 All of mankind sees him; human beings observe him from afar off."

2525 All men have looked upon God's work; man may behold it afar off.

2626 "Behold, God is exalted, and we do not know Him; The number of His years is unsearchable.

2626 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

2626 Look, God is exalted beyond our knowledge; the number of His years cannot be counted.

2626 "God is truly awesome, beyond what we know; the number of his years is unknowable.

2626 Behold, God is great, and we know Him not! The number of His years is unsearchable.

2727 "For He draws up the drops of water, They distill rain from the mist,

2727 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:

2727 For He makes waterdrops evaporate; they distill the rain into its mist,

2727 He draws up drops of water, distilling it to rain and mist.

2727 For He draws up the drops of water, which distil as rain from His vapor,

2828 Which the clouds pour down, They drip upon man abundantly.

2828 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.

2828 which the clouds pour out and shower abundantly on mankind.

2828 When the clouds pour down; they drop their rain on all of humanity.

2828 Which the skies pour down and drop abundantly upon [the multitudes of] mankind.

2929 "Can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds, The thundering of His pavilion?

2929 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?

2929 Can anyone understand how the clouds spread out or how the thunder roars from God's pavilion?

2929 "Furthermore, can anyone understand cloud patterns, or the thundering in his pavilion?

2929 Not only that, but can anyone understand the spreadings of the clouds or the thunderings of His pavilion?

3030 "Behold, He spreads His lightning about Him, And He covers the depths of the sea.

3030 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.

3030 Look, He spreads His lightning around Him and covers the depths of the sea.

3030 He scatters his lightning above it, and covers the bottom of the sea.

3030 Behold, He spreads His lightning against the dark clouds and covers the roots of the sea.

3131 "For by these He judges peoples; He gives food in abundance.

3131 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.

3131 For He judges the nations with these; He gives food in abundance.

3131 He uses them to judge some people and give food to many.

3131 For by [His clouds] God executes judgment upon the peoples; He gives food in abundance.

3232 "He covers His hands with the lightning, And commands it to strike the mark.

3232 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.

3232 He covers [His] hands with lightning and commands it to hit its mark.

3232 His hands are covered with lightning that he commands to strike his designated target.

3232 He covers His hands with the lightning and commands it to strike the mark.

3333 "Its noise declares His presence; The cattle also, concerning what is coming up.

3333 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.

3333 The thunder declares His presence; the cattle also, the approaching [storm].

3333 His thunder declares his presence; and tells the animals what is coming."

3333 His thunderings speak [awesomely] concerning Him; the cattle are told of His coming storm.
