Jesus Is Anointed At Bethany

1 Now six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus lived, whom He had raised from the dead.

1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

1 (A)Jesus, therefore, six days before (B)the Passover, came to (C)Bethany where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany(A) where Lazarus(a) was, the one Jesus had raised from the dead.(B)

1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived in Bethany, where Lazarus lived, the man whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

2 So they gave a dinner there in honor of Jesus, and Martha was waiting on them, but Lazarus was one of the guests with Jesus.

2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

2 So they made Him a supper there, and (D)Martha was serving; but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.

2 So(C) they gave a dinner for Him there; Martha(D) was serving them, and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.

2 There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him.

3 Then Mary took a pound of expensive perfume, made of the purest oil, and poured it on Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair; and the whole house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

3 (E)Mary then took a (a)pound of very costly (F)perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

3 Then Mary took a pound of fragrant oil—pure and expensive nard—anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped His feet with her hair.(E) So the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.

3 Mary took a litron of very expensive perfume made of pure nard and anointed Jesus' feet. She wiped his feet with her hair, and the house became filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

4 But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was going to betray Him, said,

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

4 But (G)Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to (b)betray Him, *said,

4 Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot(F) (who was about to betray Him), said,

4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, who was going to betray him, asked,

5 "Why was this perfume not sold for sixty dollars and the money given to the poor?"

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

5 “Why was this perfume not sold for (c)three hundred denarii and given to poor people?”

5 “Why wasn’t this fragrant oil sold for 300 denarii(b)(G) and given to the poor?”

5 "Why wasn't this perfume sold for 300 denarii and the money given to the destitute?"

6 He said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and as the carrier of the purse for the Twelve he was in the habit of taking what was put into it.

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

6 Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he (H)had the money box, he used to pilfer (I)what was put into it.

6 He didn’t say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief.(H) He was in charge of the money-bag and would steal part of what was put in it.

6 He said this, not because he cared about the destitute, but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the moneybag and would steal what was put into it.

7 Then Jesus said, "Let her alone; let her keep it for the day of my funeral,

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

7 Therefore Jesus said, “Let her alone, so that she may keep (d)it for (J)the day of My burial.

7 Jesus answered, “Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of My burial.(I)

7 Then Jesus said, "Leave her alone so she can observe the day of my burial,

8 for you always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."

8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

8 (K)For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.”

8 For you always have the poor with you,(J) but you do not always have Me.”

8 because you will always have the destitute with you, but you won't always have me."

The Decision To Kill Lazarus

9 A goodly number of the Jews learned that He was at Bethany, and so they came there, not only to see Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.

9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

9 The (L)large crowd of the Jews then learned that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, (M)whom He raised from the dead.

9 Then a large crowd of the Jews learned He was there. They came not only because of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus the one He had raised from the dead.(K)

9 When the large crowd of Jews realized that he was there, they came not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 But the high priests planned to kill Lazarus,

10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

10 But the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also;

10 Therefore the chief priests decided to kill Lazarus also

10 So the high priests planned to kill Lazarus, too,

11 for on account of him many of the Jews were leaving them and believing in Jesus.

11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

11 because (N)on account of him (O)many of the Jews were going away and were believing in Jesus.

11 because he was the reason many of the Jews were deserting them(c) and believing in Jesus.

11 since he was the reason why so many of the Jews were leaving to believe in Jesus.

The Triumphal Entry

12 The next day the vast crowd that had come to the feast, on hearing that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem,

12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

12 On the next day (P)the large crowd who had come to (Q)the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

12 The(L) next day, when the large crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

12 The next day, the large crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem.

13 took palm branches and went out to meet Him, and kept on shouting: "Blessings on Him! Blessed be He who comes in the name of the Lord; Blessings on the King of Israel!"

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

13 took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “(R)Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the (S)King of Israel.”

13 they took palm branches(M) and went out to meet Him. They kept shouting: “Hosanna!(N) He who comes in the name of the Lord is the blessed One(O)(d)—the King of Israel!”(P)

13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!"

14 Then Jesus found a young donkey and mounted it, doing as the Scripture says:

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written,

14 Jesus found a young donkey(Q) and sat on it, just as it is written:

14 Then Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written:

15 "Cease from fearing, Daughter of Zion; See, your King is coming mounted on an ass's colt!"

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

15 (T)Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”

15 Fear no more,(R) Daughter Zion. Look, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt.(S)(e)

15 "Stop being afraid, people of Zion. Look, your king is coming, sitting upon a donkey's colt!"

16 His disciples at the time did not understand this, but after Jesus was glorified, they remembered that this had been written about Him and that they had fulfilled it in His case.

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

16 (U)These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus (V)was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things to Him.

16 His disciples did not understand these things at first. However, when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about Him(T) and that they had done these things to Him.

16 At first, his disciples didn't understand these things. However, when Jesus had been glorified, they remembered that these things had been written about him and that people had done these things to him.

People Tell About Jesus

17 The crowd that had been with Him when He called Lazarus out of the grave and raised him from the dead, kept on talking about it.

17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

17 So (W)the (e)people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify about Him.

17 Meanwhile, the crowd, which had been with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb(U) and raised him from the dead, continued to testify.(f)

17 So the crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify to what they had seen.

18 This is why the crowd went out to meet Him, because they had heard that He had performed this wonder-work.

18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

18 (X)For this reason also the (f)people went and met Him, (Y)because they heard that He had performed this (g)sign.

18 This is also why the crowd met Him, because they heard He had done this sign.

18 The crowd was going out to meet Jesus because they had heard that he had performed this sign.

19 So the Pharisees said to one another, "You see, you cannot help it at all; the whole world has gone off after Him!"

19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are not doing any good; look, the world has gone after Him.”

19 Then the Pharisees said to one another, “You see? You’ve accomplished nothing. Look—the world has gone after Him!”(V)

19 Then the Pharisees told one another, "You see, there is nothing you can do. Look, the world has gone after him!"

Greeks Seeking Jesus

20 There were some Greeks among those who were coming up to worship at the feast,

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

20 Now there were some (Z)Greeks among those who were going up to worship at (AA)the feast;

20 Now some Greeks were among those who went up to worship at the festival.

20 Now some Greeks were among those who had come up to worship at the festival.

21 and they went to Philip who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and kept making this request of him, "Sir, we want to see Jesus."

21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

21 these then came to (AB)Philip, who was from (AC)Bethsaida of Galilee, and began to ask him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”

21 So they came to Philip,(W) who was from Bethsaida(X) in Galilee,(Y) and requested of him, “Sir,(Z) we want to see Jesus.”

21 They went to Philip (who was from Bethsaida in Galilee) and told him, "Sir, we would like to see Jesus."

22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip both went and told Jesus.

22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

22 Philip *came and *told (AD)Andrew; Andrew and Philip *came and *told Jesus.

22 Philip went and told Andrew;(AA) then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.

22 Philip went and told Andrew, and Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.

23 Jesus answered them, "The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified,

23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

23 And Jesus *answered them, saying, (AE)The hour has come for the Son of Man to (AF)be glorified.

23 Jesus replied to them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man(AB) to be glorified.

23 Jesus told them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

24 I most solemnly say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains a single grain. But if it does die, it yields a great harvest.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

24 Truly, truly, I say to you, (AG)unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

24 “I assure you: Unless a grain of wheat(AC) falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces a large crop.(g)(AD)

24 Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it produces a lot of grain.

25 Whoever loves his lower life will lose the higher, but whoever hates his lower life in this world preserves the higher for eternal life.

25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

25 (AH)He who loves his (h)life loses it, and he who (AI)hates his (i)life in this world will keep it to life eternal.

25 The one who loves his life will lose it,(AE) and the one who hates(AF) his life(AG) in this world will keep it for eternal life.

25 The one who loves his life will destroy it, and the one who hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life.

26 If anyone serves me, he must continue to follow me, and my servant also must go wherever I go. If anyone serves me, my Father will show him honor.

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

26 If anyone (j)serves Me, he must follow Me; and (AJ)where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone (k)serves Me, the Father will (AK)honor him.

26 If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me. Where I am, there My servant(AH) also will be.(AI) If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor(AJ) him.

26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me. And where I am, there my servant will also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him."

Jesus Predicts His Death

27 Now my soul is troubled; what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour of agony! And yet it was for this very purpose that I came to this hour of agony.

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

27 (AL)Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘(AM)Father, save Me from (AN)this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.

27 “Now My soul is troubled. What should I say—Father, save Me(AK) from this hour? But that is why I came to this hour.

27 "Now my soul is in turmoil, and what should I say "Father, save me from this hour'? No! It was for this very reason that I came to this hour.

28 Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came out of heaven, "I have already glorified it and I will again glorify it."

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

28 (AO)Father, glorify Your name.” Then a (AP)voice came out of heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

28 Father, glorify Your name!”(h)(AL)Then a voice(AM) came from heaven:(AN) “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again!”(AO)

28 Father, glorify your name."

29 The crowd of bystanders on hearing it said that it was thunder; others, however, said, "An angel has spoken to Him!"

29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

29 So the crowd of people who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, “(AQ)An angel has spoken to Him.”

29 The crowd standing there heard it and said it was thunder. Others said that an angel had spoken to Him.

29 Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again!" The crowd standing there heard this and said that it was thunder. Others were saying, "An angel has spoken to him."

30 Jesus answered, "This voice did not come for my sake, but for yours.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

30 Jesus answered and said, (AR)This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sakes.

30 Jesus responded, “This voice came, not for Me, but for you.(AP)

30 Jesus replied, "This voice is for your benefit, not for mine.

31 This world is now in process of judgment; the prince of this world is now to be expelled.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

31 (AS)Now judgment is upon this world; now (AT)the ruler of this world will be cast out.

31 Now is the judgment of this world.(AQ) Now the ruler of this world(AR) will be cast out.(AS)

31 Now is the time for the judgment of this world to begin. Now the ruler of this world will be thrown out.

32 And if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to me."

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

32 And I, if I (AU)am lifted up from the earth, will (AV)draw all men to Myself.”

32 As for Me, if I am lifted up(i) from the earth I will draw all people to Myself.”(AT)

32 As for me, if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to myself."

33 He said this to show the kind of death He was going to die.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

33 But He was saying this (AW)to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die.

33 He said this to signify what kind of death He was about to die.(AU)

33 He said this to indicate the kind of death he was about to die.

34 The crowd answered Him, "We have learned from the law that the Christ is to remain here forever, and so how can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?"

34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

34 The crowd then answered Him, “We have heard out of (AX)the Law that (l)(AY)the Christ is to remain forever; and how can You say, ‘The (AZ)Son of Man must be (BA)lifted up’? Who is this (BB)Son of Man?”

34 Then the crowd replied to Him, “We have heard from the scripture that the Messiah will remain forever.(AV) So how can You say, ‘The Son of Man(AW) must be lifted up’?(j) Who is this Son of Man?”

34 Then the crowd answered him, "We have learned from the Law that the Messiah remains forever. So how can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?"

35 Jesus said to them, "Only a little while longer you will have the light. Keep on living by it while you have the light, so that darkness may not overtake you, for whoever walks about in the dark does not know where he is going.

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

35 So Jesus said to them, (BC)For a little while longer (BD)the Light is among you. (BE)Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who (BF)walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.

35 Jesus answered, “The light will be with you only a little longer.(AX) Walk while you have the light(AY) so that darkness doesn’t overtake you.(AZ) The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he’s going.(BA)

35 Jesus replied to the crowd, "The light is among you only for a short time. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. The person who walks in the darkness is in the darkness and does not know where he is going.

The Unbelief Of The People

36 While you have the light believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." On saying this Jesus went away and hid Himself.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

36 While you have the Light, (BG)believe in the Light, so that you may become (BH)sons of Light.”These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and (m)(BI)hid Himself from them.

36 While you have the light,(BB) believe in the light so that you may become sons of light.” Jesus said this, then went away and hid from them.(BC)

36 As long as you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light." After Jesus had said this, he went away and hid from them.

The People Still Refuse To Believe

37 Although He had performed so many wonder-works right before their eyes, they did not believe in Him,

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

37 But though He had performed so many (n)signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him.

37 Even though He had performed so many signs in their presence, they did not believe in Him.

37 Although he had performed numerous signs in their presence, they did not believe in him,

38 so that the utterance of the prophet Isaiah was fulfilled: "Lord, who has believed what they heard from us? And to whom has the mighty arm of the Lord been shown?"

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: “(BJ)Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

38 But this was to fulfill(BD) the word of Isaiah(BE) the prophet, who said:(k)Lord, who has believed our message? And who has the arm(BF) of the Lordbeen revealed to?(BG)(l)

38 so that what the prophet Isaiah spoke might be fulfilled when he said: "Lord, who has believed our message, and to whom has the Lord's power been revealed?"

39 So they could not believe, for Isaiah again has said:

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

39 For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again,

39 This is why they were unable to believe, because Isaiah also said:

39 This is why they could not believe: Isaiah also said,

40 "He has blinded their eyes and benumbed their hearts, so that they cannot see with their eyes and understand with their hearts, and turn to me to cure them."

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

40 (BK)He has blinded their eyes and He (BL)hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and (o)be converted and I heal them.”

40 He has blinded(BH) their eyesand hardened their hearts,(BI)so that they would not see with their eyesor understand with their hearts, and be converted,(BJ)and I would heal them.(BK)(m)

40 "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, so that they might not perceive with their eyes, and understand with their mind and turn, and I would heal them."

41 Isaiah said this, because he saw His glory; yes, he spoke about Him.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

41 These things Isaiah said because (BM)he saw His glory, and (BN)he spoke of Him.

41 Isaiah said these things because(n) he saw His glory(BL) and spoke about Him.

41 Isaiah said this when he saw his glory and spoke about him.

42 And yet in spite of all this, even among the leading men many came to believe in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not own it, for fear of being turned out of the synagogue,

42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

42 Nevertheless (BO)many even of (BP)the rulers believed in Him, but (BQ)because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be (p)(BR)put out of the synagogue;

42 Nevertheless, many did believe in Him even among the rulers,(BM) but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, so they would not be banned from the synagogue.

42 Yet many people, even some of the authorities, believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not admit it so they would not be thrown out of the synagogue.

43 for they loved the praise of men instead of the praise of God.

43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

43 (BS)for they loved the (q)approval of men rather than the (r)approval of God.

43 For they loved praise from men(BN) more than praise from God.(o)(BO)

43 For they loved the praise of human beings more than the praise of God.

Jesus' Final Public Appeal

44 But Jesus cried aloud, "Whoever believes in me believes not merely in me but in Him who has sent me;

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

44 And Jesus cried out and said, (BT)He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me.

44 Then Jesus cried out, “The one who believes in Me(BP) believes not in Me, but in Him who sent Me.

44 Then Jesus said loudly, "The one who believes in me does not believe in me only, but also in the one who sent me.

45 and whoever sees me sees Him who has sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

45 (BU)He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.

45 And the one who sees Me sees Him(BQ) who sent Me.

45 The one who sees me sees the one who sent me.

46 I have come as light into the world, so that no one who continues to believe in me can remain in darkness.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

46 (BV)I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

46 I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me would not remain in darkness.

46 I've come into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me won't remain in the darkness.

47 If anyone hears my words and fails to keep them, it is not I that judge him, for I have not come to judge but to save the world.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

47 If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for (BW)I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

47 If anyone hears My words and doesn’t keep(BR) them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world(BS) but to save the world.(BT)

47 If anyone hears my words and doesn't keep them, I don't condemn him, because I didn't come to condemn the world, but to save it.

48 Whoever persistently rejects me and refuses to accept my teachings has something to judge him -- the very message I have spoken will judge him on the last day.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

48 (BX)He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; (BY)the word I spoke is what will judge him at (BZ)the last day.

48 The one who rejects Me(BU) and doesn’t accept My sayings has this as his judge:(p) The word I have spoken will judge him on the last day.(BV)

48 The one who rejects me and doesn't receive my words has something to judge him: The word that I've spoken will judge him on the last day,

49 This is because I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who has sent me has given me orders Himself what to say and what to tell.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

49 (CA)For I did not speak (s)on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me (CB)has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.

49 For I have not spoken on My own, but the Father(BW) Himself who sent Me has given Me a command as to what I should say and what I should speak.

49 because I haven't spoken on my own authority. Instead, the Father who sent me has himself commanded me what to say and how to speak.
