The Samaritan Woman At Jacob's Well

1 Jesus therefore knowing the Pharisees had heard that he made more disciples, and baptized more than John,

1 Therefore when (A)the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and (B)baptizing more disciples than John

1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

1 When Jesus(a) knew that the Pharisees(A) heard He was making(B) and baptizing more disciples than John(C)

1 Now when Jesus realized that the Pharisees had heard he was making and baptizing more disciples than John

2 (though Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples) he left Judea,

2 (although (C)Jesus Himself was not baptizing, but His (D)disciples were),

2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

2 (though Jesus Himself was not baptizing, but His disciples were),

2 although it was not Jesus who did the baptizing but his disciples

3 and returned into Galilee.

3 He left (E)Judea and went away (F)again into Galilee.

3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

3 He left Judea(D) and went again to Galilee.(E)

3 he left Judea and went back to Galilee.

Conversation With A Samaritan Woman

4 but being obliged to pass through Samaria,

4 And He had to pass through (G)Samaria.

4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

4 He had to travel through Samaria,(F)

4 Now it was necessary for him to go through Samaria.

5 he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the piece of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

5 So He *came to a city of (H)Samaria called Sychar, near (I)the parcel of ground that (J)Jacob gave to his son Joseph;

5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

5 so He came to a town of Samaria called Sychar near the property(b) that Jacob(G) had given his son Joseph.(H)

5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the piece of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.

6 now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore being wearied with his journey, sat him down by the well: it being about the sixth hour.

6 and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about (a)the sixth hour.

6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

6 Jacob’s well(I) was there, and Jesus, worn out from His journey, sat down at the well. It was about six in the evening.(c)

6 Jacob's Well was also there, and Jesus, tired out by the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

7 where a woman of Samaria being come to draw water, Jesus said to her, give me to drink.

7 There *came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus *said to her, “Give Me a drink.”

7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water.(J)“Give Me a drink,” Jesus said to her,

7 A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus told her, "Please give me a drink,"

8 for his disciples were gone away to the city to buy provisions.

8 For His (K)disciples had gone away into (L)the city to buy food.

8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

8 for His disciples had gone into town to buy food.

8 since his disciples had gone off into town to buy food.

9 but the woman of Samaria said to him, how is it that you who are a Jew, ask drink of me, who am a Samaritan? (for the Jews have no friendly intercourse with the Samaritans.)

9 Therefore the (M)Samaritan woman *said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For (N)Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

9 “How is it that You, a Jew,(K) ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan(L) woman?” she asked Him. For Jews do not associate with(d) Samaritans.(e)

9 The Samaritan woman asked him, "How can you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" Because Jews do not have anything to do with Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered her, if you knew the dispensation of God, and who it is that says to you, give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.

10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you (O)living water.”

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

10 Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God,(M) and who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would ask Him, and He would give you living water.”(N)

10 Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, "Please give me a drink,' you would have been the one to ask him, and he would have given you living water."

11 sir, said the woman, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then can you get that living water?

11 She *said to Him, “(b)Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that (P)living water?

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

11 “Sir,”(O) said the woman, “You don’t even have a bucket, and the well is deep. So where do You get this ‘living water’?

11 The woman told him, "Sir, you don't have a bucket, and the well is deep. Where are you going to get this living water?

12 are you wiser than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, as well as his children, and cattle?

12 You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who (Q)gave us the well, and drank of it himself and his sons and his cattle?”

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

12 You aren’t greater than our father Jacob,(P) are You? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and livestock.”

12 You're not greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it, along with his sons and his flocks, are you?"

13 Jesus answered her, they that drink of this water, will be thirsty again:

13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again;

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

13 Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again.

13 Jesus answered her, "Everyone who drinks this water will become thirsty again.

14 but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst: for the water that I shall give him, shall be in him a fountain springing up to everlasting life.

14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him (R)shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to (S)eternal life.”

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

14 But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again—ever!(Q) In fact, the water I will give him will become a well(f)(R) of water springing up within him for eternal life.”(S)

14 But whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never become thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become a well of water for him, springing up to eternal life."

15 sir, replied the woman, give me this water, that I may never be adry, nor come hither to draw more.

15 The woman *said to Him, “(c)Sir, (T)give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw.”

15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

15 “Sir,” the woman said to Him, “give me this water so I won’t get thirsty and come here to draw water.”

15 The woman told him, "Sir, give me this water, so that I won't get thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water."

16 go, call your husband, said Jesus, and come again.

16 He *said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here.”

16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

16 “Go call your husband,” He told her, “and come back here.”

16 He told her, "Go and call your husband, and come back here."

17 the woman answered, I have no husband. Jesus replied, you were in the right to say you have no husband:

17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus *said to her, “You have correctly said, ‘I have no husband’;

17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

17 “I don’t have a husband,” she answered.“You have correctly said, ‘I don’t have a husband,’” Jesus said.

17 The woman answered him, "I don't have a husband."

18 for you have had five husbands, and he whom you now have, is not your husband: in that you said true.

18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly.”

18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

18 “For you’ve had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.”

18 Jesus told her, "You are quite right in saying, "I don't have a husband,' because you have had five husbands, and the man you have now is not your husband. What you have said is true."

19 the woman said to him, sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

19 The woman *said to Him, “(d)Sir, I perceive that You are (U)a prophet.

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

19 “Sir,” the woman replied, “I see that You are a prophet.

19 The woman told him, "Sir, I see that you are a prophet!

20 our fathers worshipped upon this mountain; and you say, that Jerusalem is the place where we ought to perform our worship.

20 (V)Our fathers worshiped in (W)this mountain, and you people say that (X)in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.”

20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain,(g)(T) yet you Jews say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem.”(U)

20 Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain. But you Jews say that the place where people should worship is in Jerusalem."

21 Jesus said to her, woman, believe me, the time is coming when it shall be neither on this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem that ye shall worship the father.

21 Jesus *said to her, “Woman, believe Me, (Y)an hour is coming when (Z)neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

21 Jesus told her, “Believe Me, woman, an hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

21 Jesus told her, "Believe me, dear lady, the hour is coming when you Samaritans will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

22 ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is from the Jews.

22 (AA)You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for (AB)salvation is from the Jews.

22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

22 You Samaritans(h) worship what you do not know. We worship what we do know, because salvation is from the Jews.(V)

22 You don't know what you're worshiping. We Jews know what we're worshiping, because salvation comes from the Jews.

23 but the time is coming, nay, is very nigh, when the true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth: for they are the worshippers which he requires.

23 But (AC)an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father (AD)in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

23 But an hour is coming, and is now here,(W) when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him.

23 Yet the time is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Indeed, the Father is looking for people like that to worship him.

24 God is a spirit, and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth.

24 God is (e)spirit, and those who worship Him must worship (AE)in spirit and truth.”

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

24 God is spirit,(X) and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”(Y)

24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

25 then said the woman to him, I know that the Messias (that is to say the Christ) is to come, and when he is come, he will tell us all things.

25 The woman *said to Him, “I know that (AF)Messiah is coming ((AG)He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.”

25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

25 The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah(i)(Z) is coming” (who is called Christ(AA)). “When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”

25 The woman told him, "I know that the Anointed One is coming, who is being called "the Messiah'. When that person comes, he will explain everything."

26 Jesus said to her, I that am talking with you am he.

26 Jesus *said to her, (AH)I who speak to you am He.”

26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

26 “I am He,”(AB) Jesus told her, “the One speaking to you.”

26 "I am he," Jesus replied, "the one who is speaking to you."

The Disciples And The Harvest

27 Upon this his disciples came, and were surpriz'd at his conversing with the woman: yet none of them said, what did you ask her? or, why do you talk with her?

27 At this point His (AI)disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why do You speak with her?”

27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

27 Just then His disciples arrived, and they were amazed that He was talking with a woman. Yet no one said, “What do You want?” or “Why are You talking with her?”

27 At this point his disciples arrived, and they were astonished that he was talking to a woman. Yet no one said, "What do you want from her?" or, "Why are you talking to her?"

28 the woman then left her water-pot, and went away into the city, and said to the people, come,

28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and *said to the men,

28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

28 Then the woman left her water jar, went into town, and told the men,

28 Then the woman left her water jar and went back to town. She told people,

29 see a man who told me all that ever I have done: is not this the Christ?

29 “Come, see a man (AJ)who told me all the things that I have done; (AK)this is not (f)the Christ, is it?”

29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Messiah?”(AC)

29 "Come, see a man who told me everything I've ever done! Could he possibly be the Messiah?"

30 so they went out of the city, and came to him.

30 They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.

30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

30 They left the town and made their way to Him.(AD)

30 The people left the town and started on their way to him.

31 In the mean while his disciples invited him, saying, pray master, eat.

31 Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, “(AL)Rabbi, eat.”

31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

31 In the meantime the disciples kept urging Him, “Rabbi,(AE) eat something.”

31 Meanwhile, the disciples were urging him, "Rabbi, have something to eat."

32 but he answered them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of:

32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.”

32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

32 But He said, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”

32 But he told them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."

33 upon which the disciples said one to another, hath any man brought him any thing to eat?

33 So the (AM)disciples were saying to one another, “No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?”

33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?

33 The disciples said to one another, “Could someone have brought Him something to eat?”

33 So the disciples began to say to one another, "No one has brought him anything to eat, have they?"

34 Jesus said to them, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

34 Jesus *said to them, “My food is to (AN)do the will of Him who sent Me and to (AO)accomplish His work.

34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

34 “My food is to do the will of Him(AF) who sent Me(AG) and to finish His work,”(AH) Jesus told them.

34 Jesus told them, "My food is doing the will of the one who sent me and completing his work.

35 is it not a common saying, "t'other four months, and then comes harvest?" lift up your eyes now, I say, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

35 Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white (AP)for harvest.

35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

35 “Don’t you say, ‘There are still four more months, then comes the harvest’? Listen to what I’m telling you: Open(j) your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ready(k) for harvest.

35 You say, don't you, "In four more months the harvest will begin?' Look, I tell you, open your eyes and observe that the fields are ready for harvesting now!

36 he that reapeth, receiveth wages, by gathering fruit unto life eternal: that the sower, and the reaper, may both rejoice together.

36 Already he who reaps is receiving (AQ)wages and is gathering (AR)fruit for (AS)life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.

36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

36 The reaper is already receiving pay and gathering fruit for eternal life,(AI) so the sower and reaper can rejoice together.

36 The one who harvests is already receiving his wages and gathering a crop for eternal life, so that the one who sows and the one who harvests may rejoice together.

37 upon this occasion, that saying is verified, "one soweth, and another reapeth."

37 For in this case the saying is true, ‘(AT)One sows and another reaps.’

37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

37 For in this case the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’(AJ)

37 In this respect the saying is true: "One person sows, and another person harvests.'

38 I sent you to reap where you bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and you are entred into their labours.

38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.”

38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

38 I sent you to reap what you didn’t labor for; others have labored, and you have benefited from(l) their labor.”

38 I have sent you to harvest what you have not worked for. Others have worked, and you have adopted their work as your own."

The Samaritans And The Savior Of The World

39 Now many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him, for that testimony which the woman gave him, "he told me all that ever I did."

39 From (AU)that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “(AV)He told me all the things that I have done.”

39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

39 Now many Samaritans(AK) from that town believed in Him because of what the woman said(m) when she testified,(AL) “He told me everything I ever did.”

39 Now many of the Samaritans of that town believed in Jesus because the woman had testified, "He told me everything I've ever done."

40 so that when the Samaritans were come to him, they desired him to stay with them: and he stay'd there two days.

40 So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.

40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

40 Therefore, when the Samaritans came to Him,(AM) they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days.

40 So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there for two days.

41 and many more believed, for having heard him speak himself: and said to the woman,

41 Many more believed because of His word;

41 And many more believed because of his own word;

41 Many more believed because of what He said.(n)

41 And many more believed because of what he said.

42 now it is not for what you have said, that we believe: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the saviour of the world, the Christ.

42 and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed (AW)the Savior of the world.”

42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

42 And they told the woman, “We no longer believe because of what you said, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this really is the Savior(AN) of the world.”(o)

42 They kept telling the woman, "It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, because now we have heard him ourselves, and we know that he really is the Savior of the world."

Return To Galilee

43 Two days after, he departed thence, and went into Galilee:

43 After (AX)the two days He went forth from there into Galilee.

43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

43 After two days He left there for Galilee.(AO)

43 Two days later, Jesus left for Galilee from there,

44 (tho' Jesus himself had declared, that a prophet is not honoured in his own country.)

44 For Jesus Himself testified that (AY)a prophet has no honor in his own country.

44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.

44 Jesus Himself testified(AP) that a prophet has no honor in his own country.(AQ)

44 since Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

45 when he was come into Galilee, he was well received by the Galileans, who had seen all that he did at Jerusalem during the feast: for they likewise went to the feast.

45 So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, (AZ)having seen all the things that He did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they themselves also went to the feast.

45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

45 When(AR) they entered Galilee, the Galileans(AS) welcomed Him because they had seen everything He did in Jerusalem(AT) during the festival.(AU) For they also had gone to the festival.

45 When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him because they had seen everything that he had done in Jerusalem during the festival and because they, too, had gone to the festival.

A Royal Official's Son Is Healed

46 Jesus went therefore a second time to Cana in Galilee, where he had changed the water into wine. now a certain nobleman was there, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

46 Therefore He came again to (BA)Cana of Galilee (BB)where He had made the water wine. And there was a royal official whose son was sick at (BC)Capernaum.

46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

46 Then He went again to Cana(AV) of Galilee, where He had turned the water into wine. There was a certain royal official whose son was ill at Capernaum.(AW)

46 So Jesus returned to Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. Meanwhile, in Capernaum there was a government official whose son was ill.

47 who having heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee, he went there to desire him to come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

47 When he heard that Jesus had come (BD)out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and was imploring Him to come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.

47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

47 When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea(AX) into Galilee, he went to Him and pleaded with Him to come down and heal his son, for he was about to die.

47 When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him repeatedly to come down and heal his son, because he was about to die.

48 but Jesus said to him, except you see signs and miracles, you will not believe.

48 So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see (g)(BE)signs and (BF)wonders, you simply will not believe.”

48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

48 Jesus told him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders,(AY) you will not believe.”(AZ)

48 Jesus told him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe."

49 the nobleman said to him, sir, pray come down before my child be dead.

49 The royal official *said to Him, “(h)Sir, come down before my child dies.”

49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

49 “Sir,”(BA) the official said to Him, “come down before my boy dies!”

49 The official told him, "Sir, please come down before my little boy dies."

50 go thy way, said Jesus: thy son is well. and the man believed what Jesus had said to him, and went his way.

50 Jesus *said to him, (BG)Go; your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started off.

50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

50 “Go,” Jesus told him, “your son will live.” The man believed what(p) Jesus said to him and departed.

50 Jesus told him, "Go home. Your son will live." The man believed what Jesus told him and started back home.

51 as he was upon the road, his servants met him, and acquainted him, that his son was well.

51 As he was now going down, his slaves met him, saying that his (i)son was living.

51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

51 While he was still going down, his slaves met him saying that his boy was alive.

51 While he was on his way, his servants met him and told him that his child was alive.

52 then he enquired of them the hour when he began to mend: and they answered, yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

52 So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. Then they said to him, “Yesterday at the (j)seventh hour the fever left him.”

52 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

52 He asked them at what time he got better. “Yesterday at seven in the morning(q) the fever left him,” they answered.

52 So he asked them at what hour he had begun to recover, and they told him, "The fever left him yesterday at one o'clock in the afternoon."

53 so the father knew that it was at the very same hour, at which Jesus said to him, thy son is well. and he himself believed, and all his family.

53 So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives”; and he himself believed and (BH)his whole household.

53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

53 The father(BB) realized this was the very hour at which Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” Then he himself believed, along with his whole household.

53 Then the father realized that this was the very hour when Jesus had told him, "Your son will live." So he himself believed, along with his whole family.

54 Jesus did this second miracle when he return'd from Judea to Galilee.

54 This is again a (BI)second (k)sign that Jesus performed when He had (BJ)come out of Judea into Galilee.

54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

54 This, therefore, was the second sign(BC) Jesus performed after He came from Judea to Galilee.(BD)

54 Now this was the second sign that Jesus did after coming from Judea to Galilee.
