1 AT that time, the multitude being assembled by ten thousands, so that they trod one on another, he said to his disciples, Beware, first, of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy;
1 Under these circumstances, after (a)so many thousands of (b)people had gathered together that they were stepping on one another, He began saying to His disciples first of all, “(A)Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
1 In these circumstances,(a) a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling(A) on one another. He began to say to His disciples first:(B) “Be on your guard(C) against the yeast(b)(D) of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.(E)
1 Meanwhile, the people had gathered by the thousands and were trampling on one another. Jesus began to speak first to his disciples. "Watch out for the yeast that is, the hypocrisy of the Pharisees!
3 Whatever, therefore, you have said in the darkness, shall be heard in the light; and what you have spoken to the ear in private rooms, shall be proclaimed on the houses.
3 Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have (c)whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon (C)the housetops.
3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
3 Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms(H) will be proclaimed on the housetops.(I)

4 And I tell you, my friends, fear not those that kill the body, and after this have [power] to do nothing more.

5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
5 But I will show you the One to fear: Fear(L) Him who has authority to throw people into hell(M) after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear!
5 I'll show you the one you should be afraid of. Be afraid of the one who has the authority to throw you into hell after killing you. Yes, I tell you, be afraid of him!
7 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore, for you are of more value than many sparrows.

8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
8 “And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges(O) Me before men, the Son of Man(P) will also acknowledge him before the angels of God,(Q)
8 "But I tell you, the Son of Man will acknowledge before God's angels everyone who acknowledges me before people.
10 And every one that speaks a word against the Son of man shall have forgiveness; but he that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven.
10 (L)And everyone who (g)speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.
10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
10 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven,(S) but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit(T) will not be forgiven.
10 Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the person who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit won't be forgiven.
11 And when they bring you to the synagogues, and powers, and authorities, be not anxious how you shall defend yourselves, or what you shall say;

11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:

13 And one of the multitude said to him, Teacher, tell my brother to divide with me the inheritance.
13 Someone (h)in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.”
13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
13 Someone from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher,(Z) tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
13 Then someone in the crowd told him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me."
15 And he said to them, See, and beware of all covetousness; for one's life depends not on the abundance of his property.
15 Then He said to them, “(Q)Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.”
15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

17 He thought to himself, ‘What should I do, since I don’t have anywhere to store my crops?

18 And he said, I will do this; I will take down my storehouses and build greater; and there will I bring together all my produce and my goods;
18 Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
18 I will do this,’ he said. ‘I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones and store all my grain and my goods there.
18 Then he said, "This is what I'll do. I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and I'll store all my grain and goods in them.
19 and I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years rest, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.
19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, (R)you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”’

20 But God said to him, Foolish man, this night they shall require your soul from you; and who then will have the goods which you have provided?

20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool!(AH) This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared—whose will they be?’(AI)
20 But God told him, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you. Now who will get the things you've accumulated?'
21 So is every one that lays up treasures for himself and is not rich in God.
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
21 “That’s how it is with the one who stores up treasure(AJ) for himself and is not rich toward God.”(AK)
21 That's how it is with the person who stores up treasures for himself rather than with God."
22 And he said to his disciples, I tell you, therefore, be not anxious for your soul what you shall eat, nor for the body what you shall put on.
22 And He said to His disciples, “(W)For this reason I say to you, (j)do not worry about your (k)life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.
22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

23 Is not the soul more than the food, and the body than the clothing?

26 And if you cannot do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?

28 And if God so clothes the grass in the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, men of little faith?

29 Don’t keep striving for what you should eat and what you should drink, and don’t be anxious.
29 "So stop concerning yourselves about what you will eat or what you will drink, and stop being distressed,
30 for all these things do the nations of the world seek; and your Father knows that you need them.
30 For (n)all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
30 For the Gentile world eagerly seeks(AS) all these things, and your Father(AT) knows that you need them.
30 because it is the unbelievers who are concerned about all these things. Surely your Father knows that you need them!
32 Fear not, little flock, for your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom.

33 “(AH)Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, (AI)an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.
33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
33 Sell(BA) your possessions and give to the poor.(BB) Make money-bags(BC) for yourselves that won’t grow old, an inexhaustible treasure(BD) in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
33 "Sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves wallets that don't wear out a dependable treasure in heaven, where no thief can get close and no moth can destroy anything.
36 and be like men waiting for the coming of their lord, when he shall return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.
36 Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.
36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

37 Blessed are those servants whom their lord when he comes shall find watching. I tell you truly, that he will gird himself, and cause them to recline, and he will come and wait upon them.
37 Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find (AM)on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that (AN)he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
37 Those slaves the master will find alert(BJ) when he comes will be blessed. I assure you: He will get ready,(i) have them recline at the table, then come and serve them.(BK)
37 How blessed are those servants whom the master finds watching for him when he comes! I tell all of you with certainty, he himself will put on an apron, make them sit down at the table, and go around and serve them.
38 And if he comes in the second watch, and comes in the third watch, and finds them thus, blessed are they.
38 (AO)Whether he comes in the (p)second watch, or even in the (q)third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.

38 If he comes in the middle of the night, or even near dawn,(j) and finds them alert, those slaves are blessed.

39 But know this, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief comes, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

41 “Lord,” Peter asked, “are You telling this parable to us or to everyone?”
41 Peter asked, "Lord, are you telling this parable just for us or for everyone?"
42 And the Lord said, Who then is a faithful, a wise steward, whom the lord shall place over his family, to give them their proper food in due time?
42 And (AT)the Lord said, “(AU)Who then is the faithful and sensible (AV)steward, whom his master will put in charge of his (u)servants, to give them their rations at the proper time?
42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
42 The Lord said: “Who then is the faithful and sensible manager(BP) his master will put in charge of his household servants to give them their allotted food(BQ) at the proper time?
42 The Lord said, "Who, then, is the faithful and careful servant manager whom his master will put in charge of giving all his other servants their share of food at the right time?
43 Blessed is that servant whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.

44 I tell you truly, that he will set him over all his property.

45 But if that servant says in his heart, My lord delays to come, and begins to beat the younger servants, and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk,
45 But if that slave says in his heart, ‘My master (w)will be a long time in coming,’ and begins to beat the slaves, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk;
45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
45 But if that slave says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’(BR) and starts to beat the male and female slaves, and to eat and drink and get drunk,
45 But if that servant says to himself, "My master is taking a long time to come back,' and begins to beat the other servants and to eat, drink, and get drunk,
46 the lord of that servant will come in a day that he looks not for him, and at an hour that he knows not of, and will punish him severely, and give him his part with the faithless.
46 the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces, and assign him a place with the unbelievers.
46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

47 And that servant who knew his lord's will and prepared not himself, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes;

47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

47 That servant who knew what his master wanted but didn't prepare himself or do what was wanted will receive a severe beating.
48 but he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few. And from any one to whom much is given, much will be demanded; and of him with whom men have deposited much, they will ask more.
48 but the one who did not (AY)know it, and committed deeds worthy of (x)a flogging, will receive but few. (AZ)From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
48 But the one who did not know and did things deserving(BT) of blows will be beaten lightly. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. And even more will be expected of the one who has been entrusted with more.(n)(BU)

50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it is fully accomplished!

54 And he also said to the multitudes, When you see a cloud rise in the west you immediately say, There comes a shower; and it is so.
54 And He was also saying to the crowds, “(BD)When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it turns out.
54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
54 He also said to the crowds:(CB) “When you see a cloud rising in the west, right away you say, ‘A storm is coming,’ and so it does.(CC)
54 Then Jesus told the crowds, "When you see a cloud coming in from the west, you immediately say, "There's going to be a storm,' and that's what happens.
55 And when the south wind blows you say, There will be heat; and there is.
55 And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, ‘It will be a (BE)hot day,’ and it turns out that way.
55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
55 And when the south wind is blowing, you say, ‘It’s going to be a scorcher!’ and it is.
55 When you see a south wind blowing, you say, "It's going to be hot,' and so it is.
56 Hypocrites! You know how to distinguish the appearance of the earth and sky, and how do you not distinguish this time?

56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, yet you don't know how to interpret the present time?"
58 For when you go with your adversary to a ruler, on the way labor to be released from him, lest he take you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer cast you into prison;
58 For (BH)while you are going with your opponent to appear before the magistrate, on your way there make an effort to (ac)settle with him, so that he may not drag you before the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
58 When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
58 As you are going with your adversary(CG) to the ruler, make an effort to settle with him on the way. Then he won’t drag you before the judge,(CH) the judge hand you over to the bailiff, and the bailiff throw you into prison.(CI)
58 For example, when you go with your opponent in front of a ruler, do your best to settle with him on the way there. Otherwise, you will be dragged in front of the judge, and the judge will hand you over to an officer, and the officer will throw you into prison.
