Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him a message, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous Man; for last night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him.”
2 Kings 24:4
also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; and the Lord would not forgive.
Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring
innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city and on its inhabitants; for truly the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.”
Then they called on the
Lord and said, “We earnestly pray, O Lord, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life and do not put innocent blood on us; for You, O Lord, have done as You have pleased.”
And he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has this man done? I have found in Him no guilt demanding death; therefore I will
punish Him and release Him.”
The Jews answered him, “
We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God.”
And though they found no ground for putting Him to death, they
asked Pilate that He be executed.
For it was fitting for us to have such a
high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;

but with precious
blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
And all the people said, “
His blood shall be on us and on our children!”
