Hamath in the Bible

So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

From mount Hor ye shall point out your border unto the entrance of Hamath; and the goings forth of the border shall be to Zedad:

and the land of the Gebalite, and all Lebanon, toward the east, from Baal-gad below Mount Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.

And their strong cities are Ziddim, Zer, Hamath, Rakkath and Chinnereth;

Pass ye over to Calneh and see, And go thence to Hamath the great, And go down to Gath of the Philistines, Are they better than these kingdoms? Greater is their border than your border?

Surely, lo, I am raising against you a nation, O house of Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah, God of Hosts, And they have oppressed you from the coming in to Hamath, Unto the stream of the desert.

and also Hamath, [which] borders on it; Tyre and Sidon--yes, they are very wise!
