1 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.
2 Sing to him! Praise him! Declare all his awesome deeds!

3 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.

4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

4 Seek and deeply long for the Lord and His strength [His power, His might];Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually.
5 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
5 Remember his awesome deeds that he has done, his wonders and the judgments he declared.
6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.
6 You descendants of Abraham, his servant, You children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
6 O you offspring of Abraham, His servant,O you sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!
7 He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.
7 He is the LORD our God; his judgments extend to the entire earth.

8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.
8 He remembers his eternal covenant every promise he made for a thousand generations,
9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
9 like the covenant he made with Abraham, and his promise to Isaac.
10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
10 He presented it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant.
10 Which He confirmed to Jacob as a statute,To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:
11 He said: "I will give Canaan to you as the allotted portion that is your inheritance."
11 Saying, “To you I will give the land of CanaanAs the measured portion of your inheritance.”
12 When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.
12 When the Hebrews were few in number so very few and were sojourners in it,
12 When there were only a few men in number,Very few [in fact], and strangers in it;
13 And they wandered about from nation to nation,From one kingdom to another people.
13 When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;
13 they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.

14 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
14 He did not allow anyone to oppress them, or any kings to reprove them.
15 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
15 "Don't touch my anointed or hurt my prophets!"
16 Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.
16 He declared a famine on the land; destroying the entire food supply.
17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:
17 He sent a man before them Joseph, who had been sold as a slave.
18 Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:
18 They bound his feet with fetters and placed an iron collar on his neck,
19 Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.
19 until the time his prediction came true, as the word of the LORD refined him.
19 Until the time that his word [of prophecy regarding his brothers] came true,The word of the Lord tested and refined him.
20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.
20 He sent a king who released him, a ruler of people who set him free.
20 The king sent and released him,The ruler of the peoples [of Egypt], and set him free.
21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:
21 He made him the master over his household, the manager of all his possessions
22 To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.
22 to discipline his rulers at will and make his elders wise.
22 To imprison his princes at his will,That he might teach his elders wisdom.
23 Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
23 Then Israel came to Egypt; indeed, Jacob lived in the land of Ham.
24 And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.
24 He caused his people to multiply greatly; and be more numerous than their enemies.
24 There the Lord greatly increased [the number of] His people,And made them more powerful than their enemies.
25 He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.
25 He caused them to hate his people and to deceive his servants.
25 He turned the heart [of the Egyptians] to hate His people,To deal craftily with His servants.
26 He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.

27 They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

28 He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.

29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

30 Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.

31 He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.

32 He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

33 He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.
33 It destroyed their vines and their figs, breaking trees throughout their country.
34 He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,
34 He spoke, and locusts came—young locusts without number.
34 Then he commanded the locust to come grasshoppers without number.
35 And ate up all vegetation in their land,And ate up the fruit of their ground.
35 And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.
35 They consumed every green plant in their land, and devoured the fruit of their soil.
35 And ate up all the vegetation in their land,And devoured the fruit of their ground.
36 He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.
36 He struck down every firstborn in their land, the first fruits of all their progeny.
37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.
37 Then he brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled.
38 Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.
38 The Egyptians rejoiced when they left, because fear of Israel descended on them.
39 He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.
39 He spread out a cloud for a cover, and fire for light at night.
40 The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
40 Israel asked, and quail came; food from heaven satisfied them.
41 He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.
41 He opened a rock, and water gushed out flowing like a river in the desert.
42 For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.
42 Indeed, he remembered his sacred promise to his servant Abraham.
43 And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:
43 He led his people out with gladness, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.
43 He brought out His people with joy,And His chosen ones with a joyful shout,
44 And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;
44 He gave to them the land of nations; they inherited the labor of other people
45 That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.
45 so they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Hallelujah!
45 So that they might observe His preceptsAnd keep His laws [obediently accepting and honoring and valuing them].Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
