1 {A Psalm of David} The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom then should I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid?

1 A Psalm of David. The Lord is my (A)light and my (B)salvation;Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the (a)(C)defense of my life;(D)Whom shall I dread?

1 {A Psalm of David.} The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

1 Davidic. The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom should I fear?(A)The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom should I be afraid?(B)

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation whom will I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom will I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

2 When evildoers came upon me to (E)devour my flesh,My adversaries and my enemies, they (F)stumbled and fell.

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

2 When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh,(C)my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell.(D)

2 When those who practice evil, my enemies, and my oppressors come near me to devour my flesh, they stumble and fall.

3 Though a host of men were laid against me, yet shall not my heart be afraid; and though there rose up war against me, yet will I put my trust in him.

3 Though a (G)host encamp against me,My heart will not fear;Though war arise against me,In spite of this I (b)shall be (H)confident.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

3 Though an army deploys against me,my heart is not afraid;though a war breaks out against me,still I am confident.(E)

3 If an army encamps against me, my heart will not fear. If a war is launched against me, I will even trust in that situation.

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, which I will require, even that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the fair beauty of the LORD, and to visit his temple.

4 (I)One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek:That I may (J)dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,To behold (K)the (c)beauty of the LordAnd to (d)(L)meditate in His temple.

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

4 I have asked one thing from the Lord;it is what I desire:to dwell in the house of the Lordall the days of my life,(F)gazing on the beauty of the Lord(G)and seeking Him in His temple.(H)

4 I have asked one thing from the LORD; it is what I really seek: that I may remain in the LORD's Temple all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD; and to inquire in his Temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle; yea in the secret place of his dwelling shall he hide me, and set me up upon a rock of stone.

5 For in the (M)day of trouble He will (N)conceal me in His (e)tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will (O)hide me;He will (P)lift me up on a rock.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

5 For He will conceal me in His shelterin the day of adversity; He will hide me under the cover of His tent;He will set me high on a rock.(I)

5 For he will conceal me in his shelter on the day of evil; He will hide me in a secluded chamber within his tent; He will place me on a high rock.

6 And now shall he lift up mine head above mine enemies round about me. Therefore will I offer in his dwelling an oblation with great gladness; I will sing and speak praises unto the LORD.

6 And now (Q)my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,And I will offer in His tent (R)sacrifices (f)with shouts of joy;I will (S)sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

6 Then my head will be highabove my enemies around me;(J)I will offer sacrifices in His tent with shouts of joy.(K)I will sing and make music to the Lord.(L)

6 Now my head will be lifted up above my enemies, even those who surround me. I will sacrifice in his tent with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melodies to the LORD.

7 Hearken unto my voice, O LORD, when I cry unto thee: have mercy upon me, and hear me.

7 (T)Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice,And be gracious to me and (U)answer me.

7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

7 Lord, hear my voice when I call;be gracious to me and answer me.(M)

7 Hear my voice, LORD, when I cry out! Be gracious to me and answer me.

8 My heart hath talked of thee, seek ye my face. Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

8 When You said, “(V)Seek My face,” my heart said to You,“Your face, O Lord, (W)I shall seek.”

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

8 My heart says this about You,“You(a) are to seek My face.”Lord, I will seek Your face.(N)

8 My mind recalls your word, "Seek my face," so your face, LORD, I will seek.

9 O hide not thou thy face from me, nor cast thy servant away in displeasure. Thou hast been my succor; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God my Saviour.

9 (X)Do not hide Your face from me,Do not turn Your servant away in (Y)anger; You have been (Z)my help;(AA)Do not abandon me nor (AB)forsake me,O God of my salvation!

9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

9 Do not hide Your face from me;(O)do not turn Your servant away in anger.(P)You have been my helper;(Q)do not leave me or abandon me,God of my salvation.

9 Do not hide your face from me; do not turn away in anger from your servant. You have been my help, therefore do not abandon or forsake me, God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, the LORD taketh me up.

10 (g)For my father and (AC)my mother have forsaken me,But (AD)the Lord will take me up.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

10 Even if my father and mother abandon me,the Lord cares for me.(R)

10 Though my father and my mother abandoned me, the LORD gathers me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in the right way, because of mine enemies.

11 (AE)Teach me Your way, O Lord,And lead me in a (AF)level pathBecause of (h)my foes.

11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

11 Because of my adversaries, show me Your way, Lord, and lead me on a level path.(S)

11 Teach me your way, LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.

12 Deliver me not over into the will of mine adversaries; for there are false witnesses risen up against me, and such as imagine mischief.

12 Do not deliver me over to the (i)(AG)desire of my adversaries,For (AH)false witnesses have risen against me,And such as (AI)breathe out violence.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

12 Do not give me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me,breathing violence.(T)

12 Do not hand me over to the desires of my enemies; for false witnesses have risen up against me; even the one who breathes out violence.

13 I should utterly have fainted, but that I believe verily to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

13 (j)I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the (AJ)goodness of the LordIn the (AK)land of the living.

13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

13 I am certain that I will see the Lord’s goodnessin the land of the living.(U)

13 I believe that I will see the LORD's goodness in the land of the living.

14 O tarry thou the LORD's leisure. Be strong, and he shall comfort thine heart; and put thou thy trust in the LORD.

14 (AL)Wait for the Lord;Be (AM)strong and let your heart take courage;Yes, wait for the Lord.

14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

14 Wait for the Lord;be strong(b) and courageous.(V)Wait for the Lord.(W)
