1 Hear my voice, O God, in my lamenting. Preserve my life from [the] fear of [the] enemy.
1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David.Hear my voice, O God, in (A)my (a)complaint;(B)Preserve my life from dread of the enemy.
1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
1 For the choir director. A Davidic psalm.God, hear my voice when I complain.(A)Protect my life from the terror of the enemy.(B)
1 Hear, God, as I express my concern; protect me from fear of the enemy.
5 They encourage themselves [in the] evil matter. They talk of secretly laying snares. They say, "Who will see them?"
5 They (c)hold fast to themselves an evil purpose; They (d)talk of (I)laying snares secretly; They say, “(J)Who can see them?”
5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?
5 They encourage each other in an evil plan;(a)(b)they talk about hiding traps and say,“Who will see them?”(c)(G)
5 They concoct an evil scheme for themselves; they enumerate their hidden snares; they say, "Who will see them?"
6 {They carefully plot} injustices [saying], "We have perfected {the perfect plot}!" Both [the] {inner thought} and heart of man [are] deep.
6 They (e)devise injustices, saying,“We are (f)ready with a well-conceived plot”;For the (g)(K)inward thought and the heart of a man are (h)deep.
6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
6 They devise crimes and say,“We have perfected a secret plan.”(H)The inner man and the heart are mysterious.
6 They devise wicked schemes, saying, "We have completed our plans, hiding them deep in our hearts."
8 And they [who] would cause him to stumble, their [own] tongue [will be] against them. All who gaze on them will shake.
8 So (k)they (l)will (M)make him stumble;(N)Their own tongue is against them; All who see them will (O)shake the head.
8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
8 They will be made to stumble;their own tongues work against them. All who see them will shake their heads.(J)
8 They tripped over their own tongues, and everyone who was watching ran away.
9 And then all men will fear, and will declare the working of God, and will understand his doing.
9 Then all men (m)will (P)fear,And they (n)will (Q)declare the work of God,And (o)will consider (p)what He has done.
9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
9 Then everyone will fearand will tell about God’s work, for they will understand what He has done.(K)
9 Everyone was gripped with fear and acknowledged God's deeds, understanding what he had done.
10 [The] righteous will rejoice in Yahweh and take refuge in him, and all [the] upright in heart will boast.
10 The righteous man will be (R)glad in the Lord and will (S)take refuge in Him;And all the upright in heart will glory.
10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
10 The righteous one rejoices in the Lordand takes refuge in Him;all those who are upright in heartwill offer praise.(L)
10 The righteous rejoiced in the LORD, because they had fled to him for refuge. Let all the upright in heart exult. To the Director: A song. Lyrics by David.
