Prayer For Justice

1 O Lord my God, I put my faith in you; take me out of the hands of him who is cruel to me, and make me free;

1 {Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite.} O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:

1 A (a)Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord (b)concerning Cush, a Benjamite.O Lord my God, (A)in You I have taken refuge;Save me from all those who pursue me, and (B)deliver me,

1 A Shiggaion(a) of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush,(b) a Benjaminite.Yahweh my God, I seek refuge in You;(A)save me from all my pursuers and rescue me(B)

1 LORD, my God, I seek refuge in you. Deliver me from those who persecute me! Rescue me!

2 So that he may not come rushing on my soul like a lion, wounding it, while there is no one to be my saviour.

2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

2 Or he will tear (c)my soul (C)like a lion,(d)Dragging me away, while there is none to deliver.

2 or they(c) will tear me like a lion,ripping me apart with no one to rescue me.(d)(C)

2 Otherwise, they will rip me to shreds like a lion, tearing me apart with no one to rescue me.

3 O Lord my God, if I have done this; if my hands have done any wrong;

3 O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;

3 O Lord my God, if I have done this,If there is (D)injustice in my hands,

3 Yahweh my God, if I have done this,if there is injustice on my hands,(D)

3 LORD, my God, if I have done this thing, if there is injustice on my hands,

4 If I have given back evil to him who did evil to me, or have taken anything from him who was against me without cause;

4 If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)

4 If I have (E)rewarded evil to (e)my friend,Or have (F)plundered (f)him who without cause was my adversary,

4 if I have done harm to one at peace with me(E)or have plundered(e) my adversary without cause,(F)

4 if I have rewarded those who did me good with evil, if I have plundered my enemy without justification,

5 Let my hater go after my soul and take it; let my life be crushed to the earth, and my honour into the dust. (Selah.)

5 Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.

5 Let the enemy pursue (g)my soul and overtake (h)it;And let him trample my life down to the groundAnd lay my glory in the dust. (i)Selah.

5 may an enemy pursue and overtake me;may he trample me to the ground(G)and leave my honor in the dust.(H)Selah

5 then, let my enemy pursue me, let him overtake me, and let him trample my life to the ground. Interlude Let him put my honor into the dust.

6 Come up, Lord, in your wrath; be lifted up against my haters; be awake, my God, give orders for the judging.

6 Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.

6 (G)Arise, O Lord, in Your anger;(H)Lift up Yourself against (I)the rage of my adversaries,And (J)arouse Yourself (j)for me; You have appointed judgment.

6 Rise up, Lord, in Your anger;lift Yourself up against the fury of my adversaries;(I)awake for me;(f)(J)You have ordained(g) a judgment.(K)

6 Get up, LORD, in your anger! Rise up, because of the fury of my enemies; Arouse yourself for me; you have ordained justice.

7 The meeting of the nations will be round you; take your seat, then, over them, on high.

7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.

7 Let the assembly of the (K)peoples encompass You,And over (k)them return on high.

7 Let the assembly of peoples gather around You;(L)take Your seat(h) on high over it.(M)

7 Let the assembly of the nations gather around you, and you will sit high above them.

8 The Lord will be judge of the peoples; give a decision for me, O Lord, because of my righteousness, and let my virtue have its reward.

8 The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

8 The Lord (L)judges the peoples;(l)(M)Vindicate me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.

8 The Lord judges the peoples;(N)vindicate me, Lord,according to my righteousness and my integrity.(i)(O)

8 For the LORD will judge the nations. Judge me according to my righteousness, LORD, and according to my integrity, Exalted One.

9 O let the evil of the evil-doer come to an end, but give strength to the upright: for men's minds and hearts are tested by the God of righteousness.

9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

9 O let (N)the evil of the wicked come to an end, but (O)establish the righteous;For the righteous God (P)tries the hearts and (m)minds.

9 Let the evil of the wicked come to an end,(P)but establish the righteous.(Q)The One who examines the thoughts and emotions(j)is a righteous God.(R)

9 Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous. For you are the righteous God who discerns the inner thoughts.

10 God, who is the saviour of the upright in heart, is my breastplate.

10 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

10 My (Q)shield is (n)with God,Who (R)saves the upright in heart.

10 My shield is with(k) God,(S)who saves the upright in heart.(T)

10 God is my shield, the one who delivers the upright in heart.

11 God is the judge of the upright, and is angry with the evil-doers every day.

11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

11 God is a (S)righteous judge,And a God who has (T)indignation every day.

11 God is a righteous judgeand a God who shows His wrath every day.(U)

11 God is a righteous judge, a God who is angry with sinners every day.

12 If a man is not turned from his evil, he will make his sword sharp; his bow is bent and ready.

12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.

12 If (o)a man (U)does not repent, He will (V)sharpen His sword;He has (W)bent His bow and (p)made it ready.

12 If anyone does not repent,God(l) will sharpen His sword;(V)He has strung(m) His bow and made it ready.(W)

12 If the ungodly one doesn't repent, God will sharpen his sword; he will string his bow and prepare it.

13 He has made ready for him the instruments of death; he makes his arrows flames of fire.

13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.

13 He has also prepared (q)for Himself deadly weapons;He makes His (X)arrows fiery shafts.

13 He has prepared His deadly weapons;He tips His arrows with fire.(X)

13 He prepares weapons of death for himself, he makes his arrows into fiery shafts.

14 That man is a worker of evil; the seed of wrongdoing has given birth to deceit.

14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

14 Behold, he travails with wickedness,And he (Y)conceives mischief and brings forth falsehood.

14 See, the wicked one is pregnant with evil,conceives trouble, and gives birth to deceit.(Y)

14 But the wicked one travails with evil, he conceives malice and gives birth to lies.

15 He has made a hole deep in the earth, and is falling into the hole which he has made

15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.

15 He has dug a pit and hollowed it out,And has (Z)fallen into the hole which he made.

15 He dug a pit and hollowed it outbut fell into the hole he had made.(Z)

15 He digs a pit, even excavates it; then he fell into the hole that he had made.

16 His wrongdoing will come back to him, and his violent behaviour will come down on his head.

16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

16 His (AA)mischief will return upon his own head,And his (AB)violence will descend upon (r)his own pate.

16 His trouble comes back on his own head,and his violence falls on the top of his head.(AA)

16 The trouble he planned will return on his own head, and his violence will descend on his skull.

17 I will give praise to the Lord for his righteousness; I will make a song to the name of the Lord Most High.

17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

17 I will give thanks to the Lord (AC)according to His righteousnessAnd will (AD)sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

17 I will thank the Lord for His righteousness;I will sing about the name of Yahweh the Most High.(AB)
