Set Free From The Law Of Sin And Death

1 Thus there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus;

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

1 Therefore there is now no (A)condemnation for those who are (B)in (C)Christ Jesus.

1 Therefore, no condemnation(A) now exists for those in(B) Christ Jesus,(a)(C)

1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in union with the Messiah Jesus.

2 for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

2 For (D)the law of the Spirit of life (a)in (E)Christ Jesus (F)has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

2 because the Spirit’s law of life(D) in Christ Jesus has set you(b) free from the law of sin and of death.(E)

2 For the Spirit's law of life in the Messiah Jesus has set me free from the Law of sin and death.

3 For God has done what the Law could not do, weakened as it was by flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and on account of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

3 For (G)what the Law could not do, (b)(H)weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in (I)the likeness of (c)sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

3 What the law could not do(F) since it was limited(c) by the flesh,(G) God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending His own Son in flesh like ours(H) under sin’s domain,(d) and as a sin offering,(I)

3 For what the Law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did. By sending his own Son in the form of humanity, he condemned sin by being incarnate,

4 in order that the Law might be fulfilled in us who order our lives not after the flesh, but after the spirit.

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

4 so that the (J)requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who (K)do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

4 in order that the law’s requirement would be accomplished(J) in us who do not walk according to the flesh(K) but according to the Spirit.

4 so that the righteous requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not live according to human nature but according to the Spirit.

5 For they who live after the flesh, give their attention to the things of the flesh; But they who live after the spirit, give their attention to spiritual things.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on (L)the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, (M)the things of the Spirit.

5 For those who live(e) according to the flesh think about the things of the flesh,(L) but those who live(f) according to the Spirit, about the things of the Spirit.

5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

6 To be earthly minded means death; To be spiritually minded means life and peace.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

6 (N)For the mind set on the flesh is (O)death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,

6 For the mind-set of the flesh(M) is death,(N) but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace.

6 To focus our minds on the human nature leads to death, but to focus our minds on the Spirit leads to life and peace.

7 For to be earthly minded is enmity against God; For such a mind is not subject to the Law of God, Nor can it be;

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

7 because the mind set on the flesh is (P)hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,

7 For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile(O) to God because it does not submit itself to God’s law, for it is unable to do so.

7 That is why the mind that focuses on human nature is hostile toward God. It refuses to submit to the authority of God's Law because it is powerless to do so.

8 And they who are earthly minded cannot please God.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

8 and those who are (Q)in the flesh cannot please God.

8 Those who are in the flesh(P) cannot please God.

8 Indeed, those who are under the control of human nature cannot please God.

9 But you are not earthly, but spiritual, if indeed the Spirit of God is really dwelling in you. If any one does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

9 However, you are not (R)in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God (S)dwells in you. But (T)if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

9 You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since(g) the Spirit of God lives in you.(Q) But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,(R) he does not belong to Him.

9 You, however, are not under the control of the human nature but under the control of the Spirit, since God's Spirit lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of the Messiah, he does not belong to him.

10 But if Christ is in you, though your bodily self is dead because of sin, your spirit is full of life because of righteousness.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

10 (U)If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is (d)alive because of righteousness.

10 Now if Christ is in you,(S) the body is dead(h) because of sin, but the Spirit(i) is life because of righteousness.

10 But if the Messiah is in you, your bodies are dead due to sin, but the spirit is alive due to righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised up Jesus from dead is dwelling in you, He who raised up Jesus from the dead is dwelling in you, He who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also make your dying bodily self live by his indwelling Spirit in your lives.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

11 But if the Spirit of Him who (V)raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, (W)He who raised (X)Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies (e)through His Spirit who dwells in you.

11 And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead(T) lives in you, then He who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through(j) His Spirit who lives in you.

11 And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, then the one who raised the Messiah from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive by his Spirit who lives in you.

The Holy Spirit's Ministries

12 Therefore, brothers, we are debtors??ut not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh;

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

12 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh—

12 So then, brothers, we are not obligated to the flesh to live according to the flesh,

12 Consequently, brothers, we are not with respect to human nature, that is under an obligation to live according to human nature.

13 for if you go on living according to the flesh, you are on the road to die; but if by the Spirit you keep putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

13 for (Y)if you are living according to the flesh, you (f)must die; but if by the Spirit you are (Z)putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

13 for if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body,(U) you will live.

13 For if you live according to human nature, you are going to die, but if by the Spirit you continuously put to death the activities of the body, you will live.

The Yeast Of The Pharisees And Herod

14 For only those are sons of God who are led by God's Spirit.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

14 For all who are (AA)being led by the Spirit of God, these are (AB)sons of God.

14 All those led by God’s Spirit(V) are God’s sons.(W)

14 For all who are led by God's Spirit are God's children.

15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery in order that you should once more be afraid; but you have received a spirit of adoption, in which we cry out, "My Father, my dear Father!"

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

15 For you (AC)have not received a spirit of slavery (g)leading to fear again, but you (AD)have received (h)a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “(AE)Abba! Father!”

15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,(X) but you received the Spirit of adoption,(Y) by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!”(Z)

15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery that leads you into fear again. Instead, you have received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba! Father!"

16 For his Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God;

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

16 The Spirit Himself (AF)testifies with our spirit that we are (AG)children of God,

16 The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit(AA) that we are God’s children,

16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

17 and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; but to share his glory, we must now be sharing his sufferings.

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

17 and if children, (AH)heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (AI)if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

17 and if children, also heirs(AB)—heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—seeing that(k) we suffer with Him(AC) so that we may also be glorified with Him.

17 Now if we are children, we are heirs heirs of God and co-heirs with the Messiah if, in fact, we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

The Glory That Is To Be Revealed

18 For I count as nothing what we now suffer, in comparison with the glory which will soon be unveiled to us.

18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (AJ)are not worthy to be compared with the (AK)glory that is to be revealed to us.

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing(AD) with the glory(AE) that is going to be revealed to us.

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us.

19 All nature even is waiting with eager longing for the unveiling of the vision of God's sons.

19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

19 For the (AL)anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for (AM)the revealing of the (AN)sons of God.

19 For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation(AF) for God’s sons(AG) to be revealed.

19 For the creation is eagerly awaiting the revelation of God's children,

20 For nature was subjected to imperfection, not by its own will, but by the will of Him who thus made it subject??21 yet not without the hope that some day nature itself also will be freed from the thralldom of decay, into the freedom which belongs to the glory of the children of God.

20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

20 For the creation (AO)was subjected to (AP)futility, not willingly, but (AQ)because of Him who subjected it, (i)in hope

20 For the creation was subjected(AH) to futility(AI)—not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it(AJ)—in the hope

20 because the creation has become subject to futility, though not by anything it did. The one who subjected it did so in the certainty

A Two-Stage Healing

21 For we know that all nature has been groaning and travailing together until this hour.

21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

21 that (AR)the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

21 that the creation itself(AK) will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God’s children.

21 that the creation itself would also be set free from corrupting bondage in order to share the glorious freedom of God's children.

22 And not only that, we ourselves, although we are grasping the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves are inwardly groaning, while we are waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body.

22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

22 For we know that the whole creation (AS)groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains(AL) until now.

22 For we know that all the rest of creation has been groaning with the pains of childbirth up to the present time.

23 For by hope we are saved; but hope which is clearly seen is no longer hope.

23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

23 (AT)And not only this, but also we ourselves, having (AU)the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves (AV)groan within ourselves, (AW)waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, (AX)the redemption of our body.

23 And not only that,(AM) but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits(AN)—we also groan within ourselves,(AO) eagerly waiting for adoption,(AP) the redemption of our bodies.(AQ)

23 However, not only the creation, but we who have the first fruits of the Spirit also groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

24 Who hopes for what he clearly sees? But if we hope for something that we do not see, we then patiently wait for it.

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

24 For (AY)in hope we have been saved, but (AZ)hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?

24 Now in this hope(AR) we were saved, yet hope(AS) that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees?

24 For we were saved with this hope in mind. Now a hope that can be observed is not really hope, for who hopes for what can be seen?

25 In the same way the Spirit also takes hold with us in our weakness; for we know knot how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

25 But (BA)if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

25 But if we hope for what we do not see,(AT) we eagerly wait for it with patience.

25 But if we hope for what we do not yet observe, we eagerly wait for it with patience.

26 And the Searcher of Hearts knows what the Sprit's meaning is, because his intercessions for the saints are according to the will of God.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for (BB)we do not know how to pray as we should, but (BC)the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;

26 In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should,(AU) but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us(l)(AV) with unspoken groanings.

26 In the same way, the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, since we do not know how to pray as we should. But the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words,

Nothing Can Separate Us From God's Love

27 Now we know that all things continually work together for good to those who love God, to those who have been the called according to his purpose.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

27 and (BD)He who searches the hearts knows what (BE)the mind of the Spirit is, because He (BF)intercedes for the (j)saints according to the will of God.

27 And He who searches the hearts(AW) knows the Spirit’s mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

27 and the one who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, for the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to God's will.

28 For whom he foreknew, he also foreordained to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, so that he might be the eldest of a great brotherhood;

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

28 And we know that (k)God causes (BG)all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are (BH)called according to His purpose.

28 We know that all things work together(m) for the good(n) of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.(AX)

28 And we know that for those who love God, that is, for those who are called according to his purpose, all things are working together for good.

29 and whom he foreordained, those he also called; and whom he called, those he also justified; and whom he justified, those he also glorified.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

29 For those whom He (BI)foreknew, He also (BJ)predestined to become (BK)conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the (BL)firstborn among many brethren;

29 For those He foreknew He also predestined(AY) to be conformed to the image of His Son,(AZ) so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.(BA)

29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that the Son might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Victory In Christ

30 What shall we say then, to these things? If God be for us, Who can be against us?

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

30 and these whom He (BM)predestined, He also (BN)called; and these whom He called, He also (BO)justified; and these whom He justified, He also (BP)glorified.

30 And those He predestined, He also called; and those He called, He also justified;(BB) and those He justified, He also glorified.(BC)

30 And those whom he predestined, he also called; and those whom he called, he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified.

31 He that spared not his own Son, But freely delivered him up for us all, How shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

31 (BQ)What then shall we say to these things? (BR)If God is for us, who is against us?

31 What then are we to say about these things?(BD)If God is for us, who is against us?(BE)

31 What, then, can we say about all of this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

32 Who shall accuse God's elect? God acquits them;

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

32 He who (BS)did not spare His own Son, but (BT)delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

32 He did not even spare His own Son(BF)but offered Him up for us all;(BG)how will He not also with Him grant us everything?

32 The one who did not spare his own Son, but offered him as a sacrifice for all of us, surely will give us all things, along with his Son, won't he?

33 Who is there to condemn them? Will Christ who died? Yes, and who rose from the dead, The Christ who is also at the right hand of God, And is interceding for us?

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

33 Who will bring a charge against (BU)God’s elect? (BV)God is the one who justifies;

33 Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect?(BH)God is the One who justifies.(BI)

33 Who will accuse God's elect? It is God who justifies!

34 What shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall anguish, or calamity, or persecution, or famine? Shall nakedness, or peril, or sword?

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

34 who is the one who (BW)condemns? Christ Jesus is He who (BX)died, yes, rather who was (l)(BY)raised, who is (BZ)at the right hand of God, who also (CA)intercedes for us.

34 Who is the one who condemns?(BJ)Christ Jesus is the One who died,(BK)but even more, has been raised;(BL)He also is at the right hand of God(BM)and intercedes for us.(BN)

34 Who is the one to condemn? It is the Messiah Jesus who is interceding on our behalf. He died, and more importantly, has been raised and is seated at the right hand of God.

35 Even as it is written. For thy sake we are killed all the day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

35 Who will separate us from (CB)the love of (m)Christ? Will (CC)tribulation, or distress, or (CD)persecution, or (CE)famine, or (CF)nakedness, or (CG)peril, or sword?

35 Who can separate us from the love of Christ?Can affliction(BO) or anguish or persecution(BP)or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

35 Who will separate us from the Messiah's love? Can trouble, distress, persecution, hunger, nakedness, danger, or a violent death do this?

36 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors Through Him who loved us.

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

36 Just as it is written,(CH)For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

36 As it is written:Because of Youwe are being put to death all day long;(BQ)we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.(BR)(o)

36 As it is written, "For your sake we are being put to death all day long. We are thought of as sheep headed for slaughter."

37 For I am fully persuaded that neither death nor life, Neither angels nor principalities, nor powers, Neither the present world nor the world to come, Nor the powers of Nature,

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly (CI)conquer through (CJ)Him who loved us.

37 No, in all these things we are more than victorious(BS)through Him who loved us.(BT)

37 In all these things we are triumphantly victorious due to the one who loved us.

38 Nor height, nor depth, Nor any other created thing, Shall be able to separate us from the love of God Which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

38 For I am convinced that neither (CK)death, nor life, nor (CL)angels, nor principalities, nor (CM)things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

38 For I am persuaded that not even death or life,(BU)angels or rulers,(BV)things present or things to come,(BW) hostile powers,

38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
