John 12:27-36 - Jesus Predicts His Death
27 Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour? 28 But for this cause I came, for this hour. Father, glorify thy name. Then a voice came from heaven, I have both glorified, and I will glorify it again.
29 The multitude who stood and heard it, said, It thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. 31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to me. 33 (He spake this, signifying what death he should die.) The people answered him,
34 We have heard out of the law, that the Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up?
35 Who is this Son of man? Then Jesus said to them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness overtake you, for he that walketh in darkness, knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may become children of light. These things spake Jesus, and retiring concealed himself from them.
21 Then said Jesus again to them, I go, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin.
22 Whither I go, ye cannot come. The Jews said therefore, Will he kill himself? Because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
23 And he said to them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 Therefore I said, Ye shall die in your sins; for if ye believe not, that I am, ye shall die in your sins.
25 Then said they to him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith to them, Even what I say to you from the beginning. 26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true, and I speak to the world the things which I have heard from him.
27 They understood not, that he spake to them of the Father. 28 Jesus therefore saith to them, When ye shall have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. 29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always the things that please him.
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
