(1.) The translation of a word which is a generic name for horned cattle (Isa 65:25). It is also rendered "cow" (Eze 4:15), "ox" (Ge 12:16).
(2.) The translation of a word always meaning an animal of the ox kind, without distinction of age or sex (Ho 12:11). It is rendered "cow" (Nu 18:17) and "ox" (Le 17:3).
(3.) Another word is rendered in the same way (Jer 31:18). It is also translated "calf" (Le 9:3; Mic 6:6). It is the same word used of the "molten calf" (Ex 32:4,8) and "the golden calf" (1Ki 12:28).
(4.) In Jg 6:25; Isa 34:7, the Hebrew word is different. It is the customary word for bulls offered in sacrifice. In Ho 14:2, the Authorized Version has "calves," the Revised Version "bullocks."

He treated Abram well for her sake. Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, menservants and maidservants, and camels.

You must never buy back a firstborn bull, sheep, or goat. They are holy. Throw the blood from these animals against the altar. Burn the fat as an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to Jehovah.
That night Jehovah told Gideon: Take your father's bull and another seven year old bull, tear down your father's altar to Baal, and cut down the symbol of the goddess Asherah, that is beside it.
After asking for advice, the king made two golden calves. He said: You have been worshiping in Jerusalem long enough. Israel, here are your gods who brought you out of Egypt.

Return to Jehovah and say to him: 'Take away all iniquity and receive us graciously, that we may present the fruit (young bulls) of our lips.' (Hebrews 13:15)
With what shall I come before Jehovah? Shall I bow down before the high God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with year old calves?
