And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit exults in God my Saviour; read more. for he has looked on the low condition of his servant; for, behold, from this time all generations shall call me blessed, because the mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name; and his mercy is to generations and generations of them that fear him. He has made strong his arm; he has scattered the proud with the thought of their hearts; he has brought down the mighty from thrones, and exalted the humble; he has filled the hungry with goods, and sent the rich away empty. He has helped Israel his servant, and remembered his mercy, as he said to our fathers, to Abraham and his posterity forever.

Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people, and raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of David his servant; read more. as he said by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old; A salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us, to perform his mercy with our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant, the oath which he swore to Abraham our father, to grant us without fear, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, to serve him in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. And you, little child, shall be called a prophet of the Most High; for you shall go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways, to give a knowledge of salvation to his people, with a forgiveness of sins, on account of the compassionate mercies of our God, by which a morning from on high has visited us, to illuminate those sitting in darkness and the shade of death, to direct our feet in the way of peace.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying,

Now, Master, dismiss thy servant according to thy word, in peace;

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for thou wast killed and hast redeemed to God with thy blood [men] from every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and wonderful are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, king of the nations;
