But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus healed on the sabbath, answering said to the crowd, There are six days in which people ought to work; in these therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up; and he entered, according to his custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.

And it came to pass on the second-first sabbath, that he went through cornfields, and his disciples were plucking the ears and eating them, rubbing them in their hands.

But some of the Pharisees said to them, Why do ye what is not lawful to do on the sabbath?

And he said to them, The Son of man is Lord of the sabbath also.

And it came to pass on another sabbath also that he entered into the synagogue and taught; and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.

And the scribes and the Pharisees were watching if he would heal on the sabbath, that they might find something of which to accuse him.

Jesus therefore said to them, I will ask you if it is lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

The Lord therefore answered him and said, Hypocrites! does not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the manger and leading it away, water it?

And this woman, who is a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound, lo, these eighteen years, ought she not to be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the rulers, who was of the Pharisees, to eat bread on the sabbath, that they were watching him.

And Jesus answering spoke unto the doctors of the law and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath?

And answering he said to them, Of which of you shall an ass or ox fall into a well, that he does not straightway pull him up on the sabbath day?

And it was preparation day, and the sabbath twilight was coming on.

And having returned they prepared aromatic spices and ointments, and remained quiet on the sabbath, according to the commandment.

But on the morrow of the sabbath, very early indeed in the morning, they came to the tomb, bringing the aromatic spices which they had prepared.
