Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife;

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen, from David to the Babylonian Exile fourteen, from the Babylonian Exile to Christ fourteen.

And Joseph too went up from Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to the town of David in Judea called Bethlehem, because he was a descendant of the house and family of David,

Do not the Scriptures say that the Christ is to spring from David and to come from the village of Bethlehem where David lived?"
