Then Haggai, Jehovah's messenger, spoke the message of Jehovah to the people, saying, I am with you, says Jehovah.

In the seventh month, in the twenty-first of the month, the Word of Jehovah came by the prophet Haggai, saying,

In the twenty-fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

Then Haggai said, If one unclean of body touches these, is it unclean? And the priests answered and said, It is unclean.

And Haggai answered and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before Me, says Jehovah. And so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

And a second time the Word of Jehovah came to Haggai in the twenty-fourth of the month, saying,

But lest we should offend them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. And when you have opened its mouth, you shall find a stater; take that, and give it to them for Me and you.
