Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thy heart, I am, and none else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall.
The pride of thy heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
Peter answered and said to him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoever walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou hast trusted in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
And he spoke this parable to certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to impurity, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized to Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And all ate the same spiritual food; read more.

Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now all these things happened to them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will privately bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth will be evil spoken of. And through covetousness they will with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. read more.
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved to judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example to those that afterwards should live ungodly lives.

Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou shouldst forget the things which thy eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them to thy sons, and thy sons' sons:
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
