Men » Men being the head of women
Wives, be subject to your own husbands as to the Lord: for the husband is the head of the wife, as the Christ also is the head of the church; and he is the savior of the body.
Now, I praise you, brethren, because you remember me in all things, and keep the traditions as I delivered them to you. But I wish you to know, that the head of every man is the Christ, and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man that prays or prophesies, having his head covered, dishonors his head. read more.
But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered, dishonors her head: for it is one and the same as if she was shaved. For if a woman has no vail on, let her also be shaved. But if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her have a vail. For a man ought not to vail his head, because he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man: for the man was not created for the woman, but the woman for the man. For this reason ought the woman to have a token of subjection on her head, on account of the angels. But neither is the woman without the man, nor the: man without the woman, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, so also is the man by the woman; but all things are of God. Judge in yourselves, whether it is becoming that a woman pray to God unvailed. Does not nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him? But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a vail. But if any one seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor have the churches of God.

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. read more.

I will, therefore, that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands without wrath and disputation. In like manner, also, I will that the women adorn themselves with decorous dress, with modesty and sobriety, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly raiment, but with good works; since this becomes women who profess godliness. read more.
