Likewise, you wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they may, without the word, be won by the conduct of their wives, by observing your blameless and reverential conduct.

For, in former times, the holy women also, who trusted in God, thus adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: and you are her children, if you do good, and fear no dismay. For a man ought not to vail his head, because he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man: for the man was not created for the woman, but the woman for the man.

Wives, be subject to your own husbands as to the Lord: for the husband is the head of the wife, as the Christ also is the head of the church; and he is the savior of the body.
