As for Saul, he made havoc of the congregation ; entering into the houses and dragging out men and women, he committed them to prison.

Now those who were scattered abroad by the tribulation that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice and Cyprus and Antioch, preaching the word to no one except only unto the Jews. And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they came into Antioch, spoke unto the Greeks, preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus. And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned unto the Lord.

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel,

in which I suffer trouble, like unto an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes and came upon him and caught him and brought him to the council and set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law, for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place and shall change the traditions which Moses delivered us. Then all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as the face of an angel.

And crying out with a loud voice, they stopped their ears and ran upon him with one accord; and casting him out of the city, they stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen calling upon God and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

And they laid hands on them and put them in jail unto the next day, for it was now evening.
