Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the rights, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you that ye might do them in the land into which ye go to inherit it that thou might fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou and thy son and thy son's son, all the days of thy life and that thy days may be prolonged.

Thou shalt not murder.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not give false testimony against thy neighbour.

Then they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and wherever thou dost send us, we will go. According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee; only let the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada, the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah) hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not. And he was with them hid in the house of God six years; and Athaliah reigned over the land.

Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love, without eyes for anyone else. And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a woman belonging to someone else, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he weighs all his goings. His own iniquities shall take hold of the wicked, and he shall be imprisoned with the cords of his sins. He shall die because he did not submit to chastening; and due to the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

He that cuts short chastening hates his son, but he that loves him chastens him early.

Chasten thy son while there is hope, but do not stir up thy soul to destroy him.

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Do not withhold correction from the child; for if thou shall beat him with the rod, he shall not die.
